Mate(or chimarrão or cimarrón) is an South American drink that's recently gained popularity. Its a lot like coffee but it is made from the Yerba Mate tree. I've become a big fan after trying it a festival a few years ago and always liked getting it while out but avoided making - or trying to make it at home - because of the special equipment required. Enter this special equipment - the Kalmateh Yerba Mate Bombillas in three different metals. They look very cool, and are perfectly functional and work exactly as any other Yerba Mate Bombillas I've ever used. They are finished very well, with no rough parts in the metal "holes", and easily cleaned both with running water and the included brush. The finishes are true metals, not painted, and look very cool. I recommend this without hesitation if you'd like to enjoy this drink - by whatever name - at home. ... show more

I got this set to replace an old Bombilla that has metal burs (they can rip your lips). So far, I am really impressed with these. The coloration is nice (it's not painted). There are no burs or anything (especially where the screened bottom is attached to the rest of the bombilla). What's really cool is that this set comes with a cleaning brush. While mate isn't exactly messy, it's not a bad idea to run a brush through and make sure any tiny parts of the mate leaves are out. You don't want that to dry inside.
