I've always loved the sound of steel tongue drums and have wanted to try one for a while. This small option is a decent intro, but make sure you're ready to do research on techniques. Likes: - Arrived safely, haven't noticed any quality quirks or material imperfections. - Features small/light mallets and 4x stretchable finger "picks," vague book (with lots of images of the brand's other drum models), two sheets of extra decals (with a set already on the drum as well), a lightweight plastic piece I'm unsure about, plus a tight storage bag. - Hands/fingers only helps get my stimmy need to tap out without producing much noise (apartment living, others home, etc). -> More variety than bongo drum, decent tactile feel, can play around with sans training. - Lovely color, base isn't too distracting. Dislikes: - While this is fun to casually use, there are no actual instructions and no usage info for what's included. --> Beginners will have to research and watch video tutorials. --> Would be very handy if the small pamphlet booklet featured a QR code to site with "how tos." Reminders: - Keep in mind the potential sound differences between small and larger models before ordering. - If you have pets, it's probably best to slowly introduce this to them so they get accustomed to the sound, especially if you plan to use the mallets.

I've always wanted to try one of these drums and thought this would be the perfect opportunity. It's a nice beginners kit that even comes with a small music book. There's no real instructions on how to play or what to do, but a quick YouTube search fixes that. I find myself spending a lot of time destressing by playing with the notes and making my own beat. I enjoy it so much that it now hangs right next to my work desk at home so I can grab and play whenever I need a quick reset. The only reason I docked a star is because there's no real instructions on how to play or what the different notes are.

My son loves playing music on several instruments so I was planning on gifting this to him. However, I started playing music with it and I fell in love with the tones and resonance. This steel tongue drum is well made and I love the color, the sounds are glorious to me. I struggle with anxiety and stress and this is so relaxing to play. This is the second steel tongue drum I own. I absolutely love the beautiful green finish on this one. It's kind of dark sage looking mine. Is the 11 note 6 inch instrument? And it comes with everything you need. It would be somewhat helpful helpful if this stickers. Came already attached because not everyone is as precise. But it comes with stickers and mallets that are nice and soft. Sounding you can play it with the mallet or your fingers. It has a nice grip at the bottom and holds sturdy. And honestly has a very loud carrying sound.

I chose the navy blue drum and I quite like it. It's a little smaller than I expected but that in no way takes away from it's beautiful sound. Lovely like a gentle chime, each note of this small steel drum can be felt in—dare I say it?—your very soul. Such a soothing sound gives the listener a peaceful feeling and is perfect for relaxing after a stressful day. You'll receive the drum, 2 small mallets, a little resting piece for those mallets, 2 sets of finger picks, 2 space sets of number stickers, a music book, and a velvet bag to store the drum in. If you’ve never used a tongue drum before, it has a very pleasant, delicate sound similar to wind chimes. This particular tongue drum has a lovely sound, although some of the smaller tongues can sound a little tinny because of their size. The solid steel body feels very well made, and the finish looks and feels very much like powder coat. Because all of the notes are harmonic, you can just tinker with this and it’s going to sound good, even if you have no musical ability whatsoever. But if you do have some musical talent, you can definitely play simple songs, and an easy to follow song book is included in the package. I think this is a wonderful instrument, especially for someone new to music, and it would make a fantastic gift. Recommended.

I am not disappointed with this purchase at all. The drum is great looking, has a great tone. Instructions to 'tune' are clear, however I found no tuning was needed out of the box. Even comes with a nice software cloth bag to carry it in.

This steel tongue drum is superb. Each note is naturally perfect! Wether I’m trying to play a song with it or just playing around hitting notes randomly it sounds lovely and relaxing. It’s fun to use, fun to play with and has phenomenal sound quality. It’s incredibly impressive how well this steel tongue drum sounds. It has the perfect sound to it and i can’t state enough how fun this drum is to use. It comes with a nice little instruction booklet that even has a handful of songs you can learn to play with this drum. It also comes with 2 nice mallets, 4 little finger mallets and a really nice velvet storage bag. The two mallets work beautifully with the drum but, the finger mallets don’t resonate sounds as well. I think theres a learning curve with those that I haven’t figured out yet. Other than that this steel tongue drub is beautiful made, sounds incredibly and is tremendously fun to use and pay with. I can’t recommend this drum enough to those who are looking for a steel tongue drum. This one will not disappoint!

It's tuned to D Major and follows the same standard tonal position layout as other Major steel tongue drums. It's easy to self-teach with the provided materials.

Notes come pre-numbered, and the song book is a nice bonus. Tone of the drum sounds good. I have a bigger, much more expensive branded drum just like this, and the tone on this one is just as pleasant as the larger one.
