These used to be "specialty tools", and the pricing was crazy. Now you can get a really good set of basic, and even some advanced watch tools for a great price. I bought this to replace an older one that I paid WAY MORE for, back in the 1900's. It still worked great, till I lost it. I was initially disappointed in the quality, it's solid enough, but the pins have a bit of "play" to them, they're not as stiff as my old tool. But it's solid enough, and quite strong. Already used it on some slot-backed watches that are pressure tested, and quite tough to open, and it worked perfectly. After using it a handful of times (I have a lot of watches, and tend to do a battery swap on them every XX months), no issues at all, and the pins have not bent/deformed at all. Even if it lasts me a few years, it is more than worth the price.

i chose this one because it had the best reviews. at first, i was ready to return it insofar as it felt loose, rather flimsy on the adjustment screw, and i couldn't even nudge the back of watch. i have the standard notches on the back of 2 Seikos. So, i wanted to give it another chance and think thru a method. what i recognized was where i had the batteries last replaced. one was done at a cheap, mall watch place on the other side of the planet, not mentioning a country. one is well advised to know when dealing with watches and other items to go to learned and certified watchmakers. on one of the Seikos it was as tight as ice. You do not want to scratch your watch back and you need to protect your fingers and hand. i took this one watch and placed it crystal down on the bed, stood over it directly, adjusted and placed the tool, and applied A Lot Of Weight and proceeded to turn to open ... watch those fingers! That did the trick. The tool worked fine, and it was the ineptness of the one who tightened my watch the last time i had a battery replacement. the other Seiko was tight as well, and i needed to do the same on standing directly over it, but it was easier to open, and i noted that this one was done by a watchmaker of many years, in a foreign land. the point here is to note that when you have these items done, is to go to a professional to begin with. The tool worked just fine. It appeared to have the best product reviews and lived to that standard.

I tried 2 other devices(more expensive), it did do the job, but when I tried this item for the first time, undo the back case of my Seiko watch. It made me so surprised/happy. Not pricey and did the job.

It was actually manufactured better than I expected. Sturdy and built fairly well. Had the batteries out in less than five minutes. Two separate watches. I’ve never changed out a watch battery. Till now! From what I expected and what I received, I’m gonna give it 5 Star! *Note: I did not need to remove the band to get the watch cover plate off.
