Update: I typically break open dates with my fingers and remove the pit prior to eating them. These Joolies dates are not soft enough to open with your hands. I’ve had to therefore take a small bite in order to get to the middle to remove the pit. Big mistake with these dates!!! I’ve found many dates in my two boxes that are full of black mold on the inside, which have led me to spit them out and throw them away. I do not like the texture of these dates at all and definitely do not like the black mold! I’ve rarely encountered mold in other brands of dates, however it has happened enough times for me to always inspect the inside of dates before putting them in my mouth again. I will not purchase again. There was just not enough flavor in these compared to the ones I normally buy and had to throw out too many due to black mold. Cute box though. ... show more

I've always loved dates - they're my favorite healthy / vegan snack, and I've tried dozens of brands. When I saw the Joolies Instagram ad, I immediately knew I had to buy them. NOTE: this review is for the non-pitted version. I couldn't be happier with my purchase - these are by far the best medjool dates that I've tried! They seem extremely fresh (perfect chewy texture, right level of sweetness), and I love the fun shareable packaging (with built-in pit disposal!) and organic farm-to-table focus. I never know what quality I'm getting when I buy dates at the supermarket - I've ended up throwing out mostly full packages of subpar quality dates more than a few times... I'm so glad to have finally found a premium, quality-focused brand! ... show more

These are the second-best date I've ever had. The first best would not be appropriate to write about in a public forum. However, they share some things in common. Both have beautiful external packaging and clearly take care of themselves. They both also arrived in nice condition with any dents, scratches or defects. Joolies are the most delicious dates I've ever had, they're fresh and chewy unlike other brands where I'd have to leave them soaking overnight. Once I had the first one, it was hard to put them away. They've become a staple snack for me, given my sweet tooth and their health benefits.

After reading the glowing reviews, I thought, “There’s can’t be THAT much difference between date brands.” Well siree, there damn well is. These dates are suuuper fresh, sweet, moist and creamy. The texture is chewy and smooth. Who needs cookies (although they are AMAZING in cookies!) when these babies are around. I split them into thirds, add a fresh pecan, a touch of toasted coconut, drizzle with melted dark chocolate, and serve. They’re great in oatmeal, too. I received 2 boxes of Joolie's Medjool dates. Here is my experience: Both boxes had a combination of Medjool, plump, moist, large, delicious dates with small pits and small-to-medium sized Deglet dates that were not plump but dry inside and out. The second box had a delicious appearing Medjool date that was moldy. I had to spit it out and brush my teeth to combat the moldy aftertaste. The box is innovative, creative and fun. I used to love everything about these dates from Joolies. This time, they were all dried out. None of them were moist. I was so disappointed. The time before this, some of them were dried out and hard but some of them were moist. This time, all were dried out and hard. I'm so disappointed. I won't buy them again. I feel like I wasted my money. I bought so many of them before and they were always moist but not this time.
