My yarn winder did not come with a screw or the screwdriver so I had to email the seller and they were able to send those parts to me separately without charge apart from that it works great for small quantities of yarn

Worked great and gave me the perfect size cake for my yarn bowl. They did forget to give me the nut and bolt to attach the tension mechanism to the table, but they gave me to the cutest little screwdrivers I’ve ever seen in my life so I’m not even mad.

The winder works well enough. Pieces were missing and the one I received had obviously seen heavy use prior to me. Not really an issue, because I could make the missing parts and used is not really an issue as long as I know I am buying a used product, which I didn't. I didn't return it because it still worked and only took a little to clean it up and replace the missing parts to make it fully operational. Parts missing: -Tensioner hardware and clamp -Allen wrench -screw to attach plate to hold the guide. ... show more

this is my second time ordering this product. the screw, wrench, and gasket were missing both times for the tensioner. the winder works amazingly. i have been using my hand to hold the yarn because i cant use the tensioner.

I honestly don't know how I worked with yarn for so many years without a yarn winder. Every skein of yarn I have ever purchased ended up in a tangled mess no matter how careful I was (except for the REALLY expensive stuff!) A yarn winder takes a skein of yarn and turns it into a center-pull yarn "cake." The cakes are easier to store as you can stack them and they rarely become tangled even at the "bitter end." This particular model also comes with a tensioner that does exactly as its name implies. It allows you to regulate the tension as the yarn is made into the cake. This becomes important when working with very fine yarns which are too fine for anything other than handheld tension and very thick yarns that are difficult to handle even with the tensioner. If you work with yarn often and have never gotten a yarn winder you are truly missing out. I now wind all my yarns before beginning a project. ... show more

This ball winder did need some assembly but it was quick and easy. It clamps to your table and has a crank to quickly turn your yarn into a neat ball.
