    • If you need a polisher for fine work, this is it.

When I first started doing polishing work, I tried using a 3/4 horse grinder motor... problem is, they typically spin waaaaay too fast, and there isn't a way to put a motor controller on them that isn't almost as expensive as this unit. With this, you get amazing control of just how fast it's spinning, down to 900 rpm. I still need to do a lot of hand work because there are some situations no polisher will work for, but when I can use one...this is it. Would give six stars if I could. Plenty of power even on 110V, total control, great build quality. It's not cheap, but in this case I think you do get what you pay for. I wish I would have started with this instead of trying to make other motors work...would have been cheaper in the long run. ... show more

I’m still not sure I really needed a $400 buffer, but I’m happy to have it. This thing is amazing. It weighs a lot which makes it very stable when it’s spinning. It’s super quiet..amazingly quiet. I turned to do something else for a few seconds only to realize the buffer was still running. I was 5’ away and didn’t know it was still on! The variable power settings are a real plus. If you’re on the fence, and can afford it, just do it. You won’t regret it. I sure don’t. Now I need to find more stuff to buff. It does come with two 8” wheels. The picture shows a 6” wheel I moved from a bench grinder. Definitely not a Jet problem. A quality product period. ... show more

    • Does not work on GFCI Outlets.

This is a wonderful buffer. I would give it five stars, except for one fact - it will not run on a GFCI outlet. Whenever you start the motor, it will immediately trip the Ground Fault Interrupt on the outlet. JET Technical Support confirmed that "no JET Buffer or Grinder will run on a GFCI Outlet." I informed them that all the outlets in my shop were GFCI and that is code. I was told, "The only answer we have is to return the buffer to Amazon and purchase a different brand." This is a real disappointment from a company like JET. ... show more

This is great for smaller projects like jewelry and other items. I sadly was not able to keep the product because it wasn’t what I needed but would highly recommend the product to anyone looking for a high quality buffer.

Runs SMOOTHLY, Using this to replace an 8 inch bench grinder which was used for honing, buffing. installed 10" MDF wheel and 10" cotton. Honing wood carving tools after grinding to shape on 2 x 72 belt sander. Also used to keep my wood carving tools sharp.. The JET buffer is well built and functions as I expected. I own several JET machines and none of them have let me down. I would recommend to buy the stand with the unit. I thought I could do without it but finally purchased it and was glad I did so. I make custom knives so the low speed is exactly what I needed. This is a BUFFER not a grinder. This is a really heavy duty commercial - industrial piece of equipment. There are no guards as should be on a grinder although you could put a grinding wheel on it but not recommended. Love the ability to dial up or down the speed as needed. Heavy as heck so is very stable. I bought several buffing wheels and have marked each one with the color buffing compound that runs on each so there is no mix up. Left it attached to the thin plywood sheet it was packed with so I move it outside to my work bench and back inside as I like (my shed is too small and too full to have it mounted inside). ... show more
