I've now purchased this twice and worn it through two full intramural soccer seasons in New York City, playing goalkeeper in an adult league that gets... let's say enthusiastically physical. That means testing this gear across both summer games on turf in direct sun and late-fall games on wet grass when temperatures drop below 40°F. It performs meaningfully differently in each condition, so I'll break it down. *Protection (the main event)* This is genuinely the reason I keep buying it. The EVA foam pads covering the ribs, chest, shoulders, elbows, and collarbones are thick enough — roughly 10mm — that I've taken hard direct kicks from shots I didn't get a clean hand on and walked away with nothing worse than mild pressure. In one game a midfielder hit a penalty from close range that caught me in the left rib panel; I felt the impact but there was no lingering soreness. Without it I'm fairly confident that would have been at least a bruised rib. The padding also handled a dive-and-slide on artificial turf without leaving any of the typical turf burns on my arms. For aggressive intramural play where players aren't always pulling their shots, this level of protection is the sweet spot between actual safety gear and wearing nothing. *Hot weather performance* Summer is where the tradeoffs are clearest. The 90% polyester / 10% spandex construction does wick sweat reasonably well, but the EVA pads themselves don't breathe — you're going to feel warmer than in a plain compression shirt. By halftime in August I was noticeably hotter than teammates without padding. That said, the shirt itself dried fast between halves, and the heat wasn't unbearable — just something to account for. If you run hot naturally, size up slightly to allow more air circulation. *Cold weather performance* This is actually where it shines more than I expected. In late November and December, the padding adds a thin layer of insulation against wind and cold that makes it feel almost like a light base layer underneath. I wore a thin long-sleeve compression shirt underneath on the coldest days and it layered cleanly without bunching or restricting my dive range. Mobility was not compromised. *Fit and sizing* I'm 6'2", 220 lbs with a ~46" chest and the large fits well — snug without being restrictive, which matters when you're diving laterally or extending overhead for crosses. The compression hold keeps the pads in place through hard movements; they don't ride up or shift. The first few wears feel noticeably tight (the listing warns you of this, and they're right), but it breaks in within two sessions. Hand wash only — I made the mistake of machine washing the first one on gentle and the pads started delaminating after three cycles. The second one I hand wash and air dry and it still looks like new after a full season. *Compared to alternatives* I tried a competing padded compression shirt in a similar price range before settling on this one. The Jellybro pads felt denser and more impact-resistant, while the competitor's pads compressed easily on hard contact. The Jellybro also has more coverage zones (8 pads vs. the competitor's 6), which matters for a goalkeeper specifically because your arms and collarbones take hits that field players rarely deal with. *Who this is and isn't for* Best for: goalkeepers, players in physical recreational leagues, anyone who takes regular contact and wants protection without the bulk of hard-shell gear. The price-to-protection ratio is hard to beat for recreational play. Not ideal for: players who run very hot in summer heat, or anyone expecting professional-grade protection for serious competitive play. This is recreational-level gear — excellent for the price, but not equivalent to hard-plastic sport-specific protection. Bottom line: I bought it twice for a reason. For intramural soccer goalkeeping in variable NYC weather, it delivers reliable impact protection, holds up over a full season with proper care, and doesn't limit movement in ways that affect performance. 4 stars — only because hot-weather breathability has room to improve.

The shirt is simple, and the padding is minimal to keep the shirt fitting well. I needed this for my ribs and it provides some good missing protection for under my gear. It looks like robot gear in the picture, but it is fairly comfortable and flexible in real life. Happy with the purchase.

I mean overall. It’s protection. Better than a shirt alone but it’s very cheap material compared to actual paintball gear. Im a medium and it fits okay but kinda tight. Would say SIZE UP if you want some wiggle room. But does get hot of course I feel like it will tear after a few uses so if your looking for something to use ober and over again I was say save your money and invest in some better gear

It all comes down on what you’re looking for. I wish the shirt had a pad protecting your spine/back. It doesn’t. The rib pads tend to hang lower than where I think they should (I got the right size btw, measured). Other than that. It’s very comfortable to wear and it can be used for multi purposes. I use it for mountain biking, skiing etc.

it fit just fine except at the bottom it was ultra tight! idk why they thought making the xl to cut of your circulation at the bottom was necessary but it certainly wasn't. also the padding was very small for an XL. I expected more coverage like what i saw in the pictures. it's sized for some tiny chinease boy or something...
