It's stainless steel chain. It's just perfect for men's necklaces, purse or wallet chain, glasses chain--It's very good for what it is, it arrived on time, and I have no complaints. It's not easily broken, it's not tarnished/won't tarnish/ , it's inexpensive for the bulk, and it does what it should!

I like this spool of chain. I got the gold plated stainless steel curb chain. It is very strong and durable. The links are 4x6mm so it's not going to be heavy but it does has a nice weight to it, like steel chain should have. The gold tone is like a bright gold, maybe a bit on the darker side. The only thing that is kind of a downside is that when there are light and shadows on the chain it can make the gold plating look kind of cheap. But it is not bad enough for me to not use it and it looks better with multiple chain strands, so I am fine with the chain.

This chain seems to be of very good quality. I ordered the paper-clip silver version which is stainless steel. The finish is smooth and looks very nice (it has a sheen but is not bright and shiny) and I haven't noticed any nicks or roughness on the individual links. The links are have a simple design. They are flat and the elongated ovoid shape allows them to slide against each other easily. The chain is fairly light-weight but feels quite strong. I was able to cut it to the desired size with a small cutting snips with no problem. The links are a good size for my project -- they are not too thick or bulky. And the chain stays reasonably flat, and while it will swivel, it is easy to shake it back into place as it doesn't seem to stay twisted or kink. I'm using the chain as a sort of banner to attach photographs as part of the decor for my granddaughter's upcoming graduation. I wanted to display pictures of her at different ages and this is working out very well. I will still have more than half of the roll of chain left, so I want to try making a few necklaces or other types of jewelry. I've been wanting to make some simple design for a long time, but never really had the time to get started. Now I do. I appreciate that this chain comes with jump rings and clasps (each in separate packets). The chain is neatly rolled on a light spool making it easy to handle. The price seems very reasonable and I'm glad I found this chain.

So far I am happy with this chain. It is light, yet does not feel as cheap as some other chains I have seen. Time will tell if this is really gold plated. If it tarnishes I will update.

I’m guessing it’s the cut and play-of-light but this is shinier than my other steel chains!! Super pretty just by itself or layered! Only 2 clasps didn’t live up to my standards, the rest were fine and received all jump rings. :)
