Hello everyone. First of all, let us get this out of the way. When someone purchases a guitar (whether it is used, refurbished, displayed model, with minor imperfection, or a new one) at some point you are going to set the action, set the intonation, treat the fret board, file the fret ends, replace/modify the knobs/switches/bridge/strings/pickups/neck/etc. to your preference. It is no difference when you buy your vehicle. Eventually, you are going to change/add/replace/modify items on your vehicle to your liking. And that is fine. With that said, please do not count these components as a negative criticism towards these guitars. Let us just focus on the guitar itself. With minor tuning and neck adjustments, these guitars are ready to play right out of the box. As you know, minor tuning and neck adjustments are common with any guitar you purchase. The finish, quality, and construction of these guitars are awesome. The headstock is eye-catching. The neck is straight. The frets do not have dents/divots and are smooth (no sharp edges). The fret board is fine. The body is beautiful. The joints/seems are connected to satisfactory. The hardware (pickup selector or switch/output or input jack/volume & tone knobs or controls/bridge/pickups/pick guard/tuners/electronics/screws/nuts/strap buttons/fret or inlay markers/fret nut) are nice, functional, and tight. There may be some small blemishes or cloudy finishes here and there, fret board might have some kind of dye on it, but nothing really significant that would cause you NOT to play the guitar immediately. I’ve made NO modifications or changed any components on this guitar and had no major issue with feedback noise, guitar getting out of tune from hours of play, components getting loose or not working, breaking strings, electrical issues, etc. Again, everyone has their option on what they consider feedback, guitar out of tune, components getting loose or not working, breaking strings, electrical issues, etc. And that is okay. It also varies on the equipment (amps/stacks/pedals/cables/etc.) you use and how you play these guitars. In conclusion, these guitars are attractive, feel great, look fabulous, sound terrific, entice you to play them and definitely fun to play. I’m sold and I’m a HUGE fan of the IYV Guitars! I wished I could have purchased the earlier models when they first came out. If I had the money, I would buy all the IYV models. For an electric guitar under $200.00 and with no shipping fees, these guitars are an excellent investment! I will say it again. Not only are these guitars gorgeous, but they are also a pleasure to play. I hope IYV will continue to produce new models or have older models available because I am excited in purchasing them in the future.     • Best Cheap Hollow Body....that I've seen.

I've bought many cheap guitars of various types, acoustic and electric, nylon and steel. I wanted a deep hollow body electric a la L5, and nearly ordered direct from China, but saw many reviews of this guitar on YT. It's the best cheap guitar setup I've seen out of the box---at least the one I got--with no sharp frets, and a pretty low action. Tuners? They work fine for me. I'm sure you could get something better. I'm restringing now, though what came on the guitar did not sound terrible. There are numerous tiny flaws on the body, but you have to look hard to see them. It has that laquer smell, but not overwhelming, which goes away. Pickups are fine, I see no reason to upgrade, but others may differ. The nut is cut low and correct to the strings, not a given. The guitar exceeds my expectations, which were kinda high after the reviews. An L5 is probably louder acoustically, but this one is way louder than a strat etc. Bottomline: very good value. ... show more

I paid $173 for this just to check it out. I have played and collected since the early 60’s. I have a number of guitars that run to quite high end as well as some more affordable finds from over the years. Out of the box, this tuned up with acceptable intonation. It is quite playable. The fit and finish are very well done. It is a stunning piece. The bridge is pretty cheap and will be changed to a tun-o-matic style. The electronics are functional with no obvious issues. The pickups are generic and work. The bridge pup is a little harsh. If you roll off the treble it smooths out. Ok… I like the guitar overall and think it’s quite a bargain at $173. I don’t think it compares with my Gibsons and really didn’t expect it to. Back in the 90’s, I owned a Samick HJ750 which retailed a little North of a grand. I traded some recording equipment for it. This IVY reminds me of that guitar. Just a big ol jazz box. I plan to keep this. ... show more

I've ordered several budget friendly guitars, but this one turned out to be one of the very best. This is the first guitar that I've EVER received that didn't need ANY setup adjustments when it arrived. Intonation: near perfect, String Action: low and exactly to my liking, Neck Relief: spot on, Finish: I haven't found a single flaw. The sound and playability of this guitar are excellent for this price range. I feel that I got more than I payed for. No regrets, not a single one. I’ve been playing for over fifty years, all of my other electrics are high dollar brand name instruments, and I have to say I am very impressed with how well this guitar is for fit, finish and playability. I’m very happy with the tone. The instrument is heavy and huge, as is its tone. I’ve never owned a hollow body electric before (not counting chambered body), and felt that I needed something to play 60’s & 70’s prog and psychedelic rock, so when the price hit bottom, I pulled the trigger on this purchase and I literally almost feel like I stole it! I certainly don’t have funds for the original high end guitar this is inspired by, and this thing, at literally 1% of the price is truly an incredible value. Two notes… I will fit a tune-o-matic bridge in place of the wood bridge so that I can set the intonation properly, and I may get stuck making a case for this huge instrument. This is a great deal. If you’re looking for a jazz box and don’t feel like plunking down five figures, get one. ... show more
