I bought these because I wanted some pants for kung fu and tai chi that A. Don’t have big cheesy yin yang symbols and Chinese writing on them; and B. Don’t have elastic in the ankles. I know these aren’t strictly athletic pants, but they’re going to do great. They’re very roomy and well put together, I like the broad waistband. They are very comfortable and don’t restrict my range of movement. The fabric is a lot nicer than expected. It’s not flimsy and see-through, but quite thick and even has a subtle texture. These pants are well sewn as well. I mean these pants have felled seams. You don’t see that much these days. My one and only complaint would be that I wish they were just a little longer. EDIT! (READ BELOW TO SEE HOW MUCH I LOVE THESE!) I purchased my first pair of dark Gray XL in August 2021. I wash them in hot water and a hot dryer and they never shrank. I live in them. I just purchased my second pair of Gray XL (March 2023). They fit exactly like the first pair out of the package. After washing and drying them together with the first pair (hot water/hot dryer) they SHRUNK TWO SIZES!! Beware. I would hate to treat these carefully like cold wash and line dry, it defeats the purpose for me of having cozy pants I can live in that look stylish. I'm not giving up on them. But I'm going to exchange the shrunken ones for a pair of 2XL and keep my fingers crossed they are still wearable after the shrinkage. It's a shame this listing covers multiple styles... this review is for the style that appears in the first 8 photos. (The ones without a drawstring, without pleats in the front, and with a seam that continues from the waistband straight down the front to the cuff.) I LOVE THEM. I have 5 pairs of this style in Gray, Navy Blue, Black and Beige. I bought my first pair in August 2021. I don't know what the recommended laundry instructions are... I wash mine in hot water and dry them on a hot setting in the dryer. I have not noticed any shrinking or color fading. The fabric is heavy and opaque with a nice drape. Wrinkles do not hold, they seem to fall out as you wear them. The pockets are deep enough for hands and a phone. The elastic waistband does not twist. The stitching is holding really well. They're a high quality and I highly recommend them. They're more comfortable than sweats pants, are slightly more flattering, and I can dash out the door for a last minute trip to the grocery store feeling like I'm in my PJs but not looking like it. I wear them all year round. They're very comfortable in Seattle's mild summers. But I live in them in the winter too when I'm hanging out in the house. My only complaint is that sizing varies by color. I am 5'10" and currently wear size 12-14. They fall above the ankle which is the length I like to wear with sandals and chelsea boots. My first pair was Gray in XL. They're roomy but comfy and not falling off. I was so worried that these will no longer be available that I bought second Gray pair 2 weeks ago. The XL fits the same and the fabric is identical. About 8 months ago I bought Navy Blue but I needed L because the XL was too big. Last week I bought Black and Beige in XL. Out of the package... the Black XL fit perfectly like the Gray XL. But the Beige XL was too tight and a tad shorter, so I'm exchanging it for XXL. So... I'd say the Gray and Black fit as expected; go up one size in the Beige; go down one size in the Navy Blue. I cannot comment on the other colors. Or the other styles. Again, the good news is that I have not noticed any shrinkage after washing in hot water and drying completely in a hot dryer so you can trust the fit will hold after you wash & dry. ... show more

    • Doesn't look the same if you are tall"ish".

These pants were comfortable and good quality. However, I am 5'6" and they didn't look on me as it does on the model. They stopped at my ankles, even a little before, not really going over my ankles and on my feet as the pic shows. I think they kind of look a little "funny" when they stop at your ankles and are not drooping. I have already gotten Large, so I don't think I will get XL. The material is a little on the thicker side, so I am assuming more fabric will mean heavier pants (and I am not even sure that bigger size will mean longer pants). ... show more

I love the way these look, and they are comfy. I just wish the material was softer, as they are very thick and stiff, almost like a canvas. Even after a few washes, it's still stiff and makes you very warm. If you love in cooler climates, these are very cute

Not too heavy and thick, but also not a thin material. Love the pants and wear it often. But it is on the longer side. Need to pull it up to my waist on some outfits because then it drags for me (5’2). Great style though. Liked it enough to buy another in a different color.

    • 3.5 actually..confusing instructions
First what I like. Love the look, especially if you are a bit hippy and don't want your backside accentuated. I bought the grey and deep teal color (true to image) in my usual large and the fit was comfortable. Now the bad...the material has the feel of rough paper mache'. Given that linen is made from FLAX, this must be right off the bush!! The instructions tell you to hand wash. I used gentle cycle and they came out fine, dry flat only (probably since both fabrics shrink), but use a cool iron...HUH??. Normally both linen and cotton are ironed on HIGH. A cool iron will not tame this fabric. And yes you need to iron these after washing. Laying them flat to dry also requires more room, time and sun than most people have, since the fabric, especially at the wast is fairly heavy. ... show more
