I have a few pairs of Ironman 2.x readers. I bought this Ironman pair and they are much weaker. Am guessing they are 1.5x. The packaging claimed they are 2.x. Foster Grants QA must have dropped the ball. Will return and try a different brand.

I am a 61 yr old who has mono-vision (one eye corrected for distance, one eye corrected for reading). As a result, I rarely need readers even under the most challenging conditions (very small type in a dark room). That said, I sometimes do need a little help when doing very fine work, such as assembling electronic parts) when readers are helpful. Up until now I've simply used very ugly and very inexpensive readers from CVS or equivalent. These readers instantly caught my eye because I think they're very attractive. So much so I'm not embarrassed to wear them in public. They are also quite comfortable, which for me is important because for those rare times I do need readers, it can be for an hour at a time. The optics seem fine, although I do seem to notice some curvature when looking hard to the left or right. That may be normal for a 2x reader, which I've never had before. The biggest drawback to these glasses is the price - easily 5x what I've paid for my prior readers. I guess good looks come with a cost. ... show more

These are okay readers. If the fishing line was made a bit better to hold in the lenses underneath they would have gotten a better review. Came off and couldn't get back on to hold the lens in after the first month.

As this is my first pair of reading glasses, I decided to try one with a more permanent looking frame. Many of the ones I see in the stores look very cheap. These frames look like a pair of fashionable glasses I had a few years back and are built fairly well. When I received my glasses they were packed only in a bubble wrap envelope and evidently took a beating in shipment. A lens had popped out, but the frames were in good shape otherwise. I popped the lens back in carefully with my fingers and cleaned the lenses and all was good. The frame itself could bend a bit without breaking. This frame does not have the spring loaded arms that I like in my sports glasses that allow them to flex even more. However my eye doctor told me the spring loaded arms break sooner than simple hinged ones. The optics on these are clear and help me focus very close. The frames fit on my nose well and the rubber on the ear pieces hold my head well, particularly with the rubber IRONMAN extruding from the tips. (I thought the word was just gripping bumps at first, but later noticed it actually spelled Ironman.) The case fit the glasses perfectly. It does not have a flap across the top to secure the glasses nor does it have a belt loop or other way to attach it to a bag. I figured out I could put a string or carabiner through the IRONMAN tag built sewed on into the seam, but this would not hold the case opening at the top, but the glasses has enough friction inside not to fall out when the case is upside down. So far I have only had these glasses a week. I will follow up on these if they break soon or have other problems, but so far they are good for me. ... show more

I ordered these IRONMAN Men's Expedition Rectangular Reading Glasses because it was time for an upgrade from my dollar store readers, and what an upgrade they are! These Ironman glasses are attractive and give me a look of sophistication while correcting my vision and allowing me to read small print. They are highly flexible, and I haven’t noticed a glare while wearing them. Before my first wear, I accidentally sat on them. They survived and show no signs of damage. That, along with the crisp sharpness they add to my vision, earns them 5 stars and a high recommendation.
