  • Well built, and accurate. Has useful features and integrates well with their app.
Style: AirVisual Indoor
The sensor seems very accurate and updates quickly. You can also specify realtime or longer intervals for refresh. The device is well built and seems sturdy. It has a large cavity in the center that helps channel air through and might help with getting better readings. A couple features I like are that it will let you know when a good time to ventilate is. I'm guessing this is when the co2 is higher in the room and the outdoor air quality is good. The best thing is that you get a history of the air quality, both inside and outdoors, and can keep track of your health this way, particularly if you have allergies or asthma. It's also somewhat portable. I also like how you can bring it from room to room, or even for a few hours before plugging in again. Lastly, the app is great. Check out their reviews. ... show more

  • Great product, easy to setup and use
Style: AirVisual Indoor
Really easy setup and accurate. Only issue was to find the location to sync with on the map. Specific address did not come up in the system. Need to troubleshoot how to add the address to the system instead of use one of the nearby addresses to collect data under the associated address.

  • Data downloading doesn't work in Windows 10, tech support is incompetent, not sensitive enough!
Style: AirVisual Indoor
I wanted this unit specifically to be able to download the data to my computer so that I could analyze it. This should be easy, according to the manufacturer's short website article "Download the AirVisual Node/Pro's data using Samba". The problem is that Windows 10 has disabled "Samba" (more precisely known as SMB 1.0), and for good reasons, since it is a security risk! I have found the manufacturer's technical support to be worthless. The first time I talked to them, it was about a different issue, and as it happens I was told that I could not connect to my Wi-Fi using the method that was plainly being offered on the screen of the device at the time of the call! That call was disconnected soon after (not by me) so I proceeded to connect to my Wi-Fi with the method plainly offered, and it worked just fine. After a few hours, I called again about not being able to connect to the device over my local network as they described. I was told then that the problem had to be a security setting in my Wi-Fi router. I researched that and found no such setting; so then I looked into networking problems in Windows 10. Wow! Lots of problems there! I don't know that if I paste a link here that it would survive, but you can find a comprehensive, up to date, article on this by searching "Network Computers are not Showing Up in Windows 10". That article, among other things, discusses the fact that Windows 10 has disabled SMB 1.0 because of security issues. Despite the risk, I decided to re-enable that service and when I did, then the AirVisual Pro showed up in the Network tab of Windows Explorer. I still could not connect to the data files however; more W10 fiddling is evidently required (see the article for a large selection of fiddles!). At that point, I gave up and decided to return the unit. After thinking about it, I decided that it was important to add comments here about the low sensitivity of the unit to particles. The other reviewers who have complained about getting zero readings have a point. That was the subject of my original call to tech support -- why is the unit reading zero? At that point I was told that the unit needs to be connected to Wi-Fi in order to function; that is in direct opposition to what it says in the product literature and manual. Third strike against IQ Air's technical support! Anyway, getting back to the sensitivity or lack thereof, I decided to shake a dusty rug over the unit to see if I could get a response. I did, so the unit seemed to be operational. However I also noticed something surprising: the first reading over zero was 4, not 1! In fact, the first three readings are 4, 8, and 12. Playing with the unit a bit more, I selected the setting to display actual PM 2.5 numbers. Then I could see that an AQI reading of 4 corresponded to 1 microgram/cubic meter, a reading of 8 corresponded to 2 microgram/cubic meter, and so on. That relationship is actually a standard one, as you can investigate for yourself if you examine the AQI Calculator provided at airnow.gov. So, it is clear that the basic readout resolution of this unit is 1 microgram per cubic meter for PM 2.5. I see now that this is 10 times worse resolution than is provided by the Dylos DC1700-PM, where the resolution is 0.1 micrograms/cubic meter. For us folks with relatively clean air who want to measure the effects of whole house air filters, this difference is significant. ... show more
