  • So fun. More sturdy than you'd think.
Style: Explorer 200 Set
We took this camping and to different rivers all of last summer. We got the 2 person with paddles. You can actually paddle it and it works! It fit 4 small kids at once, 6, 6, 5 and 4 years. My wife was able to use it and row with one small kid but it was tight. It fits one adult well. We deflated it and it will definitely last for at least one more summer, probably more. Our 5 year old figured out how to paddle pretty quickly so that age and up should be able to use it on their own fairly well. ... show more

  • Just what I needed
Style: Explorer 200
I purchased this product to use for in-water maintenance for my sailboats. It is cheap and disposable and that is why I purchased it. It is lightweight and durable. It is stable as I have used it to float around my boats as I clean the hull exterior. I have been in about every contorted position possible and it has been stable. It is easy to air fill and compact to store. I will buy it again when I destroy this one. ... show more

  • Not just for carrying humans!
Style: Explorer 100
My wife and I kayak into the local town's pristine system of streams; part of the water supply rarely seen by others. We hand pull invasive aquatic plants which can choke a stream with dense vegetation. Spending 4 hours, we can easily gather over 100lbs of this plant at a time, which is more than our kayaks can safely hold in one trip. Repeatedly ferrying full trash bags of invasive plants back and forth to the launch point took time and effort away from actually collecting the invasive. Enter this inflatable raft. Now we paddle to the collection area towing this raft behind one of the kayaks, where we can fill trash bags, toss them into the inflatable raft, and continue filling another trash bag. This has significantly improved our efficiency. The raft is very durable, made of reasonably thick vinyl. It is light enough that we can easily portage it from the car to the launch point. It has such a shallow draft, that it is easy to tow behind the kayak, and it goes pretty much anywhere we can paddle the kayaks. It does present a drag (manageable) behind the kayak, especially when paddling against swift current. It also tends to pull the kayak off the line you are trying to track, especially when loaded. Never the less, this has been a game changer for us. We are impressed with the utility and durability of this lightweight craft. ... show more

  • Good at the price
Style: Explorer 200 Set
Pros: roomy, easy to inflate/deflate; oars are just fine for a kid. Cons: thin vinyl, and the cord for the bow is a joke. I modified the boat with glue-on D-ring patches to run grab lines and a painter, which was the only way I would permit a child to use the boat in salt water without an adult standing right next to it. However, if you just plan to use it in a swimming pool, it's fine as it comes out of the box. ... show more

  • Great value for calm water. Use the oars as a kayak paddle!
Style: Explorer 200 Set
I bought a couple of these for some entry-level fatbike pack rafting with a friend. The raft rolls up into about the size of a small tent or sleeping bag, and is easily strapped down to a cargo rack. When inflated, it's big enough for one person to sit in, and a 40-lb fatbike can be set on top of your feet without falling off or tipping the raft. I even strapped it down using the oar anchors and the anchor at the front. We took them down the proverbial "lazy river" and had lots of trouble navigating with the oars (although we had never rowed before). We quickly reassembled the oars into makeshift kayak paddles and it was much more manageable. Even pleasant! One raft got a hole after running over a piece of concrete at the shore, so be careful. The included patch did an ok job, but get some Coghlan's Airstop if you really need it to hold air. We then took them out to open water on a large lake. The waves and boat wakes were over a foot tall for most of it, but even with a bike on the top of each raft, we didn't have stability issues. Just turn into any big waves and it's surprisingly stable. However, the oars are not heavy duty enough to be doing lots of paddling, and you can't put a lot of power through them. Both of our paddles were showing stress marks and bending after pushing out from the beach and paddling for a few miles on the open water. The air pumps work well but take a while- we counted about 650 pumps for the raft. They will also double as bilge pumps if you get water inside! Overall, we determined these "toy" rafts were not well suited to open water, but usable in a pinch. These rafts are a great value but best suited to a river, pool or other calm water conditions. They work well with a steady river current as well, so you don't have to paddle for propulsion. If you're going to be paddling them, think about getting a "real" kayak paddle, and definitely carry a bottle of PVC sealant if you're going to be near pointy underwater objects! ... show more

  • You get what you pay for
Style: Explorer 200
Wasn’t even able to get one use out of it before the bottom portion had deflated. The top held air just fine but I would air up the bottom portion and when I’d walk to the pond to put it in the water, it would already be deflated. I wouldn’t recommend for an adult. But for a kid it would be okay. Just not durable. ... show more
