  • interactive, mechanic, lots o parts
Color: Red
My 5 yr old loves taking apart his cars and trucks. He loves watching his Dad work on cars and pretends he is also a mechanic, so this kid model engine was a really neat and interactive gift. For once, I don’t need glue to put back together a toy vehicle that he has disassembled. This truck engine is definitely a young mechanics dream. Alot of the pieces are removable and it has lights and sounds for pretend driving. There are a ton of pieces that come with this toy. Most of them are little, plastic, yellow screws. You’ll want to be in the know that this is definitely an assisted interactive toy for toddlers. My son spent the majority of the experience just watching Dad kind of put it together so he could then take it apart or pretend drive it. The toy itself seems good quality and is a decent size. If you have a kid that really enjoys mechanic play and interactive hands on activities this is a great out of the ordinary gift. The advertised description is for an age range of 3-5, but my 5 yr old definitely needed some assistance and guidance, 3 yr old seems like a stretch, and a good way to have alot of missing parts at the end of the day. Overall, the quality is good, the age range might need to be modified and the price is a smidge high, but I had a happy imaginary mechanic. ... show more

  • Very neat toy, my son loves! but that compartment noise is a whole nother level of awful!
Color: Red
My 3 year old adores this toy. Me and my husband? Not quite as much. It is noisy. Like, very noisy! There is no volume control which I can deal with, but for some reason it makes the most awful sound when he opens the tool box compartment. I mean, nails on a chalkboard kind of sound that doesn't stop until it closes. Maybe ours is defective? But as soon as he opens that compartment, it keeps going like the darkest nightmare fuel. I finally put duct tape over the trigger to keep it from setting off. Problem solved! Otherwise my son has so much fun taking this apart and putting it back together. His daddy is a heavy equipment mechanic, and already he is enamored with fixing vehicles and such. This last summer my husband bought an old 30's Dodge for them to renovate together. Obviously there are some things our son can't assist in, so he will very seriously go to his toy car to fix it at the same time. Really cute and a great way for him to practice. He is an expert in tightening bolts, toy or on the real deal! So as much as I personally would give this a 4 star rating due to the awful, noisy compartment factor, he loves it so much and this has been very beneficial in him learning alongside his dad. Very easy to put together and he really loved that he could move it around. ... show more

  • Pretty fun kids toy
Color: Red
I ordered this toy for my kids because I figured they'd enjoy it. This is definitely a generic version of the one sold by some bigger name-brand kids toy companies, but for the price I was pretty happy with it. First off, this thing was pretty easy to assemble and there wasn't anything too complicated for me to do to get everything assembled. However, the same could not be said for my kids. I bought this for a 2 and 4 year old (yes I know it's a bit advanced for them) but they understand how screwdrivers work and how to turn screws on these types of toys. That being said, there were so many different pieces for this engine, and some of them would only attach in certain spots and other ones the screws would only actually screw in if it was going through a different part and into a second part, like it was very complicated for children to figure out. My kids ended up just not really building the motor or anything and would just screw on the wheels and hubcaps and then screw the toy screws into random pieces of the engine (but outside of the truck itself) which kind of defeated the purpose in my opinion. Also, this toy comes with a lot of smaller pieces and a lot of pieces in general, so it caused a pretty substantial mess when the kids played with it and I ended up rounding up all the pieces to store in a bag when they weren't using it just to help keep the floor clean and not have any pieces get lost. As for the sounds and lights, we did get some batteries installed and the noises and lights worked pretty much exactly as expected. Overall I think this is a fine toy, but it's definitely for older kids like 5 and up, so keep that in mind when purchasing this. I'd give this an 8/10, definitely a fun toy, but at least for my kids and at their age it's not a good fit for them right now. ... show more

  • Don’t buy!! Missing MANY pieces!
Color: Red
It came missing many of the pieces including the main handle windshield mirror piece. It was clearly a return item because half the stickers and pieces were on, batteries and pull tab missing. Don’t buy unless you only want half an engine.

  • THE MOST AMAZING TOY OF THE YEAR!
Color: Red
My grandson absolutely loves this toy engine. He has so much fun with this using the tools and the lights and sounds make it so much fun for him using his creative side. I really truly believe this is an educational toy he has lots of fun playing with his truck. That makes me so happy.
