Although there were no instructions for installation or how to use, the information on use is available online. The kit comes with the tie ring, which has a built-in screw for attaching the ring to a wood post or wall. Also included is an insert for attaching the tie ring to concrete. A 5/16" drill bit works for a wood installation; a larger drill bit is needed if using a concrete installation. After drilling the hole, the sleeve is inserted followed by screwing the tie ring screw into the insert. The first item sent to me was defective; one of the internal springs had come loose and was protruding through the rubber gasket. Amazon quickly replaced it with one in perfect condition. The ring is made of SUS 304 permanent anti-rust steel and is quite strong with no sharp edges. The attached screw has flat areas which make it easy to install with a wrench. Installation to a wood wall took no more than 5 minutes. Our lead ropes are thick and do not easily slide through the opening and around the center post/tongue. But in an emergency or panic situation there would be enough movement permitted to prevent injury from the horse pulling back or falling. This tie ring is well made and strong, easy to install and should last a very long time without rusting. ... show more

I’m getting some good use out of this tie ring. I personally use it for when I'm doing bodywork on horses because I can adjust how much slack they need. It’s also great for one of my rescue horses that’s had really bad experiences with being tied up in the past. If he’s feeling uncomfortable and needs to take a couple steps to decompress it releases just enough slack so that he doesn’t feel trapped or restrained against his will and then will immediately start relax. It’s really helped with him slowly getting comfortable again with being tied up. The ring is on the larger side compared to others I’ve used, so I use a thicker lead rope to prevent too much slack and it’s works great. Occasionally we need to help the horses if they are not quite in the mood to stand in place. Usually they don't need to be haltered. Installing this tie ring gives the option needed. They don't need to be tied down hard as they are easy to work with. The spring loaded feature makes it secure. I like it better than magnetic. The person who did the actual installation reported an issue with placing the anchor but we were able to make it work. I would recommend. I need to see if they have the other kind that hooks onto something so I can use it with my horse trailer. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. We have goats and I use dog leashes with the loops on the ends to lead them around. This hardware makes for a very easy time tying them up without a lot of fuss (making a slipknot) which is very helpful when I am leading more than one and they are moving about me like toddlers trying to check everything out and mouth anything within reach. In the video I am able to tie and untie one handed within 10 seconds! I could see this being used for other livestock and dogs as well. My wife rates this tie ring a 4 instead of a 5 because it is designed differently from some of the other ties here on Amazon. The list of good things is the high quality steel, the heavy duty build and the spring loaded safety feature for sit backs. What she doesn't like is that the tie is permanently assembled so that it can't be removed from the eye bolt. Though all tie manufacturers say that the tie will last in the open environment, with our heat and humidity, they always do show wear and oxidation. So, with this one, we will have to install it inside our barn instead of outdoors on a wash rack or a tie post. With that one criticism, it is nice and should last. ... show more
