  • Similar to Blocker Tie
This is similar to the name brand Blocker Ties which I have used now for several years when tying to my horse trailer or in my trailer. I'm going to compare this tie to the ties from the original company. The original blocker ties are heavier with a smoother finish. I think the name brands are probably a bit stronger and long-term would probably hold up better than these, however if your horse pulls back something else is probably going to break before the tie ring does. The price point on this blocker tie is a few dollars less, so if that matters to you this is a good option. The magnet on these seems like it is not attached to the tie quite as strongly, so I wonder if overtime it will work loose. It is glued into a hole the size of the magnet, so if the glue comes loose there's nothing to keep the magnet from pulling out. The name brand blocker ties the magnet is set into the metal and I don't think it would ever come loose. However, you can use old bits cut in half, so the tie is not necessary for the function of the device, it just makes it easier to use. It is nice that it comes with a screw eye, so it can be permanently attached to a wall and it also comes with a carabiner to move it back and forth from trailer to Barn. I think this is a fine tie and I have nothing against it, but based on the way the magnet is attached I am giving it one less star. And honestly for myself I would probably pay a few dollars more and purchase another original blocker tie, but if saving money is your main goal this is a great item. ... show more

  • No more messing with clips.
The tie ring itself and the eyebolt are very rugged. I'm not as comfortable with clip they use to attach the two. It's probably fine... I was a rockclimber for years and have way too many carabiners laying around to use a little clip like that when I have access to something that I actually trusted my life to. Their little clip also as I show in one of the photos is not big enough to clip on my heavy duty brackets on the horse trailer. I didn't need the eyebolt as I use this with my horse trailer. They do give easy to follow directions for those who have never used this type of clip before. I do use mine a little differently. I got this type of clip because I have a mustang who 95% of the time is fine but every now and then she has a flashback, and goes ballistic when tied down. If you do not do the extra loop, if you just do the initial loop, and snug it down to the bottom (leave a lot of loose end) if the horse pulls it will give way but slowly. For a horse like her, she panics and starts to pull back but instead of trapping her and sending her into full meltdown, it allows her to pull back a bit. She will usually pull back one to two steps sliding roughly 3 - 7 foot of rope through with the leads I use. Because it doesn't trap her she stops fighting and relaxes. Without putting anyone in danger or her hurting herself, I can then go up and reset it. Prior to using clips like this she would fight until she was free. She broke halters, she broke the trailer and she had many a gash on her legs from them sliding under the trailer while she fought. I came close loosing limbs while trying to get in close enough to pull the easy release knots I would use, which under that much pressure, no longer release easy. And if you've got clumsy fingers like I do now, it's a real blessing not to have to fuss with snaps and clips. ... show more

  • Effective for horses that break ties
I started using this on my horse that learned to break off the cross ties (either the halter or the tie itself, whichever broke first). This tie ring allows a horse to pull very hard but only get a slow release. Because it gives, the horse cannot break anything nearly as easily, and it essentially ruins my horse’s fun. Pulling back on the cross ties to break something and get free is no longer a big endorphin rush; instead it is just a slow release that requires a lot of consistent effort. He has started giving up before he gets free, so I’ll call it a win. Note that this tie is effective and I love to use them, it is not a tie you can leave your horse on unattended (not that many suggest that anyway). ... show more

  • A must for horses
This is being used to tie horses while being groomed, bathed, saddled or unsaddled. Even the calmest of horses can spook at times. This tie ring's breakaway feature ensures that your horse will not feel constrained and injure himself in a panic mode.

  • Similar in Quality to Clinton Anderson
My wife is tickled with this Martx Tie Ring. She has paid $40.00 each for two Clinton Anderson tie rings in the past year and she believes the Martx is very similar in quality, sturdiness and weight. Plus, she loves the magnet. We don't see this feature on our ties from the feed store. The value is great as these Martx ties are about a third less than the feed store and Tractor Supply. We are past the days of our horses sitting back, so this ring won't be severely tested....thank goodness. The ring is going to be installed on our new tie post and we are expecting years of use and great performance. Nice product. Recommended. ... show more

  • Solid construction and works as intended.
Daughter and I used it for our horse Junior. We found that it to work great. Our lead rope is a little too big to do it the way the instructions show but if you just do the first loop, it works just as well for thicker lead ropes. We don't use the eye bolt but instead just clip it on to the grate to our trailer. There's usually SOMETHING we can clip on to though and it easily lets us move from one clip to another while moving our horse around when we need to. ... show more

  • Strong
This is a well made ring. The metal feels coated, so should last in the weather. It does what it's supposed to do.
