I bought this to hold my father-in-law's ashes. We were looking for a nice place for him to "live" without paying a funeral parlor price for an urn. My father-in-law was a very simple man, and I know he would much prefer this simple box over a fancy vase style urn. We also bought an Army decal medallion to include on the front. It's very nice. My Mom, who weighed 114 pounds, was cremated; her ashes came in a thick plastic box. This medium-sized wooden box was just the right size for her. I was able to tuck her in, along with the sealed tie wrap bag she came in. Anything larger, you'll need a larger container. 4 stars because the carving didn't have any type of paint or oil on it. The box itself is beautiful, exactly what is pictured….but I can’t get it open. It’s as though the screw is glued, it will not budge-even when using a drill. I cannot actually use this if I can’t get it open.
