I got this game recommend by an aquintance who described it as a "new classic" and in all honesty, they were right on target. It is exciting, even in a two player setting, though it does become funnier and more nerve-wrecking in larger groups. The game is incredibly simple to play, it is very self-explanatory to the point that even your impatient friend who can't bare to read the instructions beforehand will get a hang of it in the first turn. Our family never really plays cards. Just didn't grow up with them. Two kids in college and the wife and I played this game over Christmas. Wow!!! Such fun. Just the family interactions alone were worth it. At first the kids are like, say what?, a card game? I don't think so. But I primed the pump earlier and told them we were going to play. Imagine! This was bought as a party game for 4 adults on Thanksgiving. It was fun but I wish there were more options on the cat cards that you need multiples to use their power. Although they have different cutsie names (like Tacocat) on them, they have the same power. (to steal a ransom card) I know this is not even close to a power card game like Dominion but if you are going to have different names on the cat cards they should all be different or at least have a higher level of difficulty for a few. This card game can be played super fast so it is a good party game but... 5 players basically uses all the cards and makes it end too quickly. (all luck/ no strategy due to lack of cards on the pickup pile) And the opposite is the same for 2 players. (it can take longer and use some strategy) Would recommend 3-4 players for some luck some strategy. I will definitely look into the expansion packs to add more cards and more strategic powers. ... show more

Great party game, especially if you enjoy watching (and participating in) chaos at the playing table. Mechanics and strategies are both fairly easy to pick up, meaning that getting more players on board shouldn't be a problem. Strategies and events may start to feel stale after a while, but if you have the right people and don't play exceedingly often it'll last a long time and still provide loads of tension, fun, and well-deserved insults. ... show more

If you have already purchased the original game and expansion packs, this version of the game is redundant. The idea is that you simply devise variations of the game by building decks that utilize the cards of your choice. For someone withOUT the expansion packs on the original game, this "Imploding" version is great. This is a fun and easy to learn game for groups. Unfortunately, the seller just wrapped the game in a layer of shipping plastic and didn't use any padding.
