  • Fight for Survival (Review #548)
I know Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction are the ones who created this series, but I think Duane Swierczyski does a better job with it. His dialogue, story pacing, it all has a more comfortable flow to it. Even though the storylines he explores were set up by the previous writers, there is a clear difference between the styles used. This volume explores the mystery of all previous Iron Fists deaths at 33 years old, and that of the Eighth City. He also introduces more of and in one case expands upon the older generations of Iron Fists along the way, and even one from the future. The main series is consistently great however the tie-in stuff with the Immortal Weapons miniseries is a mixed bag. The best issue of that series is the first one, written by Jason Aaron and staring Fat Cobra. It reveals a tragic past hidden by drink for so many years. The rest of these issues fail to reveal enough about any of the other Weapons, especially not with the second issue focused on Bride of Nine Spiders. I really don't like much of the art this time either from most of the artists who worked on the series but I will again say the style fit the story. The first of these Complete Collections really grabbed my attention but this one held it right until the end. 4/5 ... show more

  • Great read
Great stories. Very detailed. The continuous struggle of trying to mold life and being an Iron Fist. Excellent even if your not into comics.

  • First rate graphic novels!
Incredible, top notch artwork and storytelling. I bought these to get caught up with the Iron Fist mythology in preparation for the upcoming Netflix series and was very pleasantly surprised by how excellent the quality is for these books (Volumes 1 and 2 both).
