  • Concentration game
This game has a slight sense of nostalgia to it and does seem a little old fashioned compared with all the high tech games at kidโ€™s fingertips these days. But still my kids (pre-teen age) enjoyed challenging themselves with it for a bit. Iโ€™m not sure how often they will grab for it though. I donโ€™t see it being a favorite for them. There are just too many other higher excitement games to play these days. This game is more of a concentration game. I do like that it promotes some interactivity because you can play with up to 8 players and you can play in teams. You can also play it alone and it is small enough to pack for a trip. It offers a variety of games that ask you to copy lights and/or sounds. There are 12 games total. The user guide clearly describes each one, and specifies how many players and the skill level. The concept of mimicking the lights and sounds is simple but gets increasingly challenging. I think this type of game is geared for some, but not all. Some people might bore quickly or not even get started with it at all because they might not have the patience or interest for it. So, my suggestion is to consider this before purchasing or gifting. One must like these sort of games to enjoy. Younger kids would need to guidance until they got the hang of it. The product itself is well constructed and worked without any complication. Set up was easy - you just install 4 AA batteries (not included). The volume is loud which is great for large groups, but if alone and you want to adjust it, I donโ€™t see a way. ... show more

  • Fun and challenging brain teaser for all ages
I bought this brain teaser for my 10-year-old grandson, and he loves it! It's a great way to challenge his mind and keep him entertained. The unit is small and portable, so he can take it with him on trips. There are 12 different games to play, so there's always something new to try. The games are all different levels of difficulty, so they're appropriate for all ages. He has been able to play all of the games, but some of them are still challenging for him. It's a lot of fun, and it's a great way to keep your mind sharp. ... show more

  • Generic or new challenger
This is a take on an old 80s electronic toy and it does exactly that, and a bit more. First of all two sided for two players or just one device for those single players willing to test their skills. I only seen my kids play two different modes but my wife said there's more. I only got to play a knock off version of the original game. Still a fun memory game for ages 5+ ... show more

  • Fun shouldn't be this frustrating
Iโ€™m one of those people who isnโ€™t big on reading instructions. But I am big on logic, and that usually gets me through. Since this game is advertised as ages โ€œ6 and up,โ€ I really thought it would be a no-brainer to just sit down, pop some batteries in, and start playing my first simple game. I was wrong. And even once I resigned myself to actually reading the instructions, I found that I still needed a bit of trial and error just to figure out the exact sequence of buttons that needed to be selected just to select the game I wanted to play, with myself as the only player, at the skill level at which I wanted to play. And then, after not playing a game for a while and wanting to start a new session, I found myself back at square one with regards to how to properly select the correct game configuration. Maybe that in itself is a testimony to how badly I need memory exercises, but Iโ€™ve devoted a good portion of my career to writing procedures, and if I had written anything resembling the directions for this game, I wouldnโ€™t have held a job for very long. How do you select which game you want to play? Do you hit the โ€œGameโ€ button the number of times corresponding to the desired game number, or do you just hit a numbered button after pressing โ€œOn/Offโ€? How do you select the number of players? Again, do you hit the โ€œPlayerโ€ button the number of times corresponding to the desired number of players, or do you just hit a numbered button after pressing โ€œPlayerโ€? I cannot fathom how a 6-year old would be able to figure this out, and I swear Iโ€™m hearing โ€œSorryโ€”you lose!โ€ in my sleep after attempting to play this. Like many others, I grew up with a much simpler version of this game machine, and you can select a game on this device that replicates that experience. If thatโ€™s all youโ€™re interested in, then just buy that game. I can see where this game might be a great experience for an individual or group who really wants the mental challenge and stimulation, but to me that experience should begin after the game starts and not before. ... show more

  • Adult assistance recommended
This is a colorful memory game with 12 different games. You have to choose a mode/game then you have to enter the number of players. This is way more complicated than a Simon game. Younger kids need an adult or teen to help them. Itโ€™s too much by themselves. I can see a group of older kids having fun with it. Would even be a fun game for adults at a get together. Just bring the instructions. ... show more

  • Fun Family Game
It has so many games all-in-one that weโ€™re making it a new game to pass it around and beat the different levels! Cool games and didnโ€™t need weird batteries to use!

  • Good for younger kids
This reminds me a lot of that handheld Simon says game that I played when I was a child. It has a few more features which is nice. My kids like to play it but if they were older than younger elementary age I feel they would be bored of it fast.
