Made this purchase to keep my ice maker clean and always ready to go. I have had ice makers previously that were difficult to clean and always ended up requiring special cleaning methods to reach some areas, making it such a pain. I recently grabbed a sonic ice maker and it sits on a counter top constantly running, always being refilled with filtered water. After about 2 months of running straight, I noticed yellowy orange colored stains forming, which usually means it's time to clean. Well let me tell you... this product made it a lot easier! I ended up running 1 cycle with the first tablet, then 2 subsequent cycles to flush out any extra nasty stuff. I had a tank full of mold floating in the water! I drained the tank each time the cycle was completed. I threw in a 2nd tablet to get the job done and after 3 or 4 more water cleaning cycles, the system appeared to be clear water, and I was able to wipe clean all the nasty coloring in the tank. The ice started coming out clear and it did taste different, but in a good way. This product does a great job of breaking down the unseen hard water and mold that builds up inside the water linea. This works so good in my portable ice maker it was black on the inside and I was trying to figure out a way to clean it in my roommate sent me a link to this product and within 24 hours it looked pristine and brand new and ice taste perfect now with portable ice makers I suggest you run it through at least four or five times to get all the chemicals out before ingesting ice ... show more

Worked as expected. Greta company. I use several of their products and thought I would try these. Got a lot more gunk out of my ice maker than the standard vinegar I’ve been using. No smell to me. Residue wiped off very easily after cleaning cycle. The tablets foam up so that was nice to see.
