A great addition to your forestry tools and chainsaw safety gear, this HDPE helmet shell includes a protective face shield for eye protection, ear protectors for hearing protection, and a sun peak for blocking sunlight. This helmet is made with a 6-point textile suspension and three settings which let you easily adjust the depth of how it sits on your head with either a slip ratchet. Plus, an Egyptian cotton core sweatband designed with a PU coating allows for maximum sweat absorption and is also PH neutral and dermatologically tested. The adjustable ear muffs let you control the width and height for a comfortable fit and great noise exclusion despite low pressure (ANSI S3.19-1974, 24dB NRR). In addition, the chainsaw face shield uses a nylon/metal mesh visor which you can easily lower or raise for excellent visibility and water runoff. These chainsaw accessories meet and exceed ISEA / ANSI Z89.1-2014 Type I with Electrical Insulation standards—Rated to Class E. In addition to this chainsaw safety helmet, Husqvarna offers a variety of chainsaw safety equipment like protective chainsaw chaps, work gloves and ear protection.

I now know why I skipped the $40 helmet and chose this one for $65. This is a great helmet. I can't hear much through these ear coverings and the fit is perfect. It feels great on my head. Thank you, Husqvarna, for lending your name to the great helmet maker who came up with this design.

    • Good helmet, terrible instructions
This is a good helmet, maybe a little better the Oregon it replaced, and maybe a little better than the Stihl I tried. Truthfully, all of the helmets from those three companies are pretty good. The big flaw with this and other Husqvarna helmets is, as many have noted, the instructions, which are almost worthless. Luckily assembly is pretty obvious for all parts except the visor, and that’s not terribly difficult to figure out. My one tip is to install it on the face shield before attaching the shield to the helmet- you’ll have to flex the frame of the face shield a little to snap the visor on. Fit is good. The suspension keeps it from moving around on your head, and the ear defenders help keep in in place. There are several adjustment points that should allow for a good fit on a wide range of head sizes. The face shield is wider and deeper than on most less expensive helmets, and that was one reason I decided on this helmet. There are two very similar versions of this helmet, one with a simple ratchet adjustment of the head strap and one with a wheel-type adjustment that sells for $10 more. I thought I was ordering the wheel adjustable model, but this one is the ratchet model. I almost sent it back, but I decided that it’ll probably be fine for my occasional use. If you’re the only one wearing the helmet it doesn’t make a huge difference, but if it’ll be shared by several people you’ll want the wheel version. You’ll also want the wheel if you plan to wear this over a hood or a thin cap at times. ... show more

    • Great Helmet - Easy-ish Assembly
I wore this helmet for a couple hours today and have the following to report: • Assembly was easy, though poorly documented so uncertainty reigned. Tip: just slam stuff together, it's dead easy. • During assembly, the mesh visor was difficult to seat. I used a retracted utility knife as a way to apply a lot of force to snap the visor in place. The little retaining studs the visor popped behind did not break off. I was amazed. • The helmet is better than wearing safety glasses because the wire mesh does not fog up so you maintain excellent visibility. Some say you should wear safety glasses too. I think I'm safer when I can see and nothing drifted into my eyes through two hours of use. • The ear muffs work great. They have a metal strip in them that holds them up or against your head. You just push the muffs down and they grab your head. They are great. • The head strap is easy to adjust and the sweat band is appreciated. UPDATE: I've worn this helmet through 5 gallons of gas worth of chainsawing. It's great. I also wear it when string trimming. The ear muffs are fantastic. It is wear-all-day comfortable. The metal mesh front is fantastic. When you're bushwhacking up to a tree that is surrounded by bushes and stickers, this is a great thing to wear to keep things from poking you in your face and eyes. The only thing that has made it through the mesh is dust from rotten trees. UPDATE 2022: Bought this helmet two years ago. After much use, sweat rusted through the screen of the visor. A new Husqvarna 505665321 Metal Mesh Visor Face Screen Black Forest Helmet and I'm back in business. Wish I could have bought this on Amazon. ... show more

    • Use this when trimming heavy weeds and brush
I have a Stihl trimmer. I needed to cut down heavy weeds/brush and needed face protection. I considered the Stihl brush shield protector (face shield and hearing protectors) but read the reviews. Plus I have Stihl hearing protectors and they don't fit right....and keep coming loose. I read the reviews for the Husqvarna Forest Head Protection and Helmet and took the plunge. I didn't really need the helmet part, but figured that it might fit better. And it does. One I adjusted it for my size, everything stays in place even when start sweating. Even better, one of the ear muffs lifts up so you can hear out of one ear when you are not using machinery...so you don't have to take it off when you significant other is yelling out you. Oh, and that is something to keep in mind. This is a big orange helmet and it's goofy looking. It does not look cool and your significant other might give you a hard time about it. But at my age I don't care. This is a functional helmet at a fair price. ... show more

Pros: hearing protection fits exactly as they should, they lock in the back when not in use and fit snug on the head when in use; helmet is extremely comfortable, you can wear it for all day; face shield locks upwards when not in use; headband adjustment doesn't squeeze your head so tight it hurts after 30 minutes of use. Cons: that I was such a tightwad, I didn't buy this years ago to replace the crappy loggers helmet I have been using. ... show more
