Piston rings initially were a challenge to install. I ended up using the bolts on the piston cap to pull the rings into place.

The circular gaskets in the rebuild kit weren't the correct size. Didn't have time or the patience to return the kit so I reused the original gaskets. Defeats the purpose of doing a rebuild but I had no other options

    • Poor instructions.
I am having trouble understanding the instructions. Google does not give me an answer for "gap it" used in the context of part 6 of the instructions. Am I supposed to stretch the new piston ring as I tighten the screw? The piston ring is not stretchy. The next instruction says "then use the new cylinder to trap the piston ring into it". Not sure what that means. The photo shows only one angle. I cannot tell if the piston ring is fully inside the new cylinder or trapped under? I was able to find videos online for similar compressors and those videos had the cylinders installed prior to the piston rings. Either way, I ended up sending the compressor out for repair. ... show more
