  • Great Price, Great Product
Model name: X27q, 2021
I bought this monitor for a gaming set up I recently built. I was a bit worried since I got it under 200 dollars but I couldn’t be happier. Came in with zero issues and after month of use I’m happy. Video quality is great, and the monitor is responsive. Size was perfect for me even though I was worried it might be a bit big. For reference I’m coming from a 4K 16 in laptop that had an i-9 and some built in graphics. Design is simple and appealing to me, and the bezels are almost nonexistent. The one thing I could nitpick about would be daytime brightness. I have a huge window and get lots of sunlight bleeding in during the day. This would be the only time the brightness doesn’t seem to be enough. The fact it’s highly adjustable helps too! It’s still manageable for sure but something to keep in mind. ... show more

  • At around (or under) $200, this monitor is an absolute steal.
Model name: X27q, 2021
I read all the reviews and became scared of the panel lottery, but the price was just too tempting. And all this BOE fearmongering turned out to be nonsense. I think you're going to be subjected to panel lottery in general (not just BOE vs LG) and this will be your primary concern. For me, I got an absolutely immaculate BOE. Zero light bleed. Colors look great, a feast for my eyes. Very happy with my supposedly inferior panel. The only scenario where I could see this even being a small problem is if you plan to buy multiple X27qs. In that setup, ideally all your panels would be identical... but even then, these specs at this price point? Still compelling even with that caveat. Another huge bonus for me personally is the stand. It has a small footprint yet is very sturdy and has TONS of adjustment. Most cheaper monitors will cut corners on the stands, and I cannot understate how awesome it is to have the option for portrait mode and height/tilt adjustment out-of-the-box. Again, mind blowing at this price point. I primarily play a lot of fast-paced, flick-shot arena FPS on mouse and would notice any sort of delay or ghosting instantly - there isn't any. I don't own testing equipment to measure exact color accuracy and response time, but I am particular about image quality/delay and have daily-driven more displays than I can count, including 4k and 300hz displays. After 2 months of daily use, I can assure you that this thing punches WAY above its price range - assuming you don't get a dud. But that applies to pretty much any display you may be considering buying. ... show more

  • Pros and Cons
Model name: X27q, 2021
As someone who doesn't game often and mainly uses my monitor for work, I decided to purchase the HP X27q to replace my old, basic 1080p monitor. Here's my impression after a few months of use: Pros: - Sharp 1440p resolution is a huge upgrade over 1080p for work tasks - Vivid, rich colors make images and videos pop - Nearly non-existent bezels look slick for a dual monitor setup - Adjustable stand with height and tilt options is sturdy - 165hz refresh rate feels smooth even for basic use Cons: - Build quality feels a bit cheap/plasticky, especially the back panel - Limited ports (1 HDMI, 1 DisplayPort) make connecting devices a bit tricky - Stand/base has a large footprint taking up desk space - No USB-C port for new laptops - FreeSync variable refresh rate requires AMD GPU to utilize Overall, I'm satisfied with this monitor for my needs as an office worker. The image quality and crisp 1440p resolution are excellent upgrades over my old 1080p monitor. I don't use the high refresh rate or gaming features much, but they're nice to have. The build quality could be a bit more premium, but the price point makes up for it. If you're looking for a sharp, color-accurate monitor for work/productivity at a budget price, the X27q is a great option to consider. For pure gaming, you may want to look at monitors with higher refresh rates and Nvidia G-Sync support. Hope this review helped! ... show more

  • Best value 1440p 165hz display
Model name: X27q, 2021
I have been on the hunt for an inexpensive 1440p high refresh monitor for some time. When this popped up for $180 on the amazon treasure truck I snagged it without a second thought and I have zero regrets. 1440p has so much more real estate that 1080, and 27" is the sweet spot for this resolution in my opinion. And the high refresh is just so fluid from the standard 60hz monitors. Top it off with a nice IPS panel and backed by a name brand like HP and it is the best budget 1440p monitor hands down. Not to mention it included a nice stand with vertical movement and rotation, which is usually unheard of in this price range. My only complaint would be that is only has a single hdmi and single display port and no built in speakers, but that is very minor. ... show more
