Tried to clean out the paint and gunks in the bottom bracket of my new frame with a small metal pick so that the cups could fit in. One side still didn't work. The local shop gave me a 5 day appointment to bring the frame in so they could check it out. Couldn't wait so I ordered these for next day delivery. They worked perfectly and saved me a lot of headache and frustration. The long leading sections on front of the cutting threads made alignment a snap. The taps are very sharp and heavy, you would feel some resistance at first but the cutting/cleaning action was smooth and easy. Highly recommended them. Great quality tap, was able to fix cross thread BB (was a mess) using tap magic cutting fluid. Did it by hand with gloves on. If there could be one improvement it would be a rod that you could attach to both ends to connect the 2 taps, but worked great so can't complain.

I powdercoat bikes so I needed these to chase threads that weren't clean. The first thing I figured out was that LH RH does not signify the side they are to be used on. Other than that I've used these about 20 times in the past month with nothing but good results.

Self aligns. Re-tapped a cross threaded bottom bracket thread that I had spent hours trying to thread a cup into. Re-tapped it with this product in less than two minutes and I was good to go! I was worried that these are only one-sided (unlike the Park tool that has a rod that goes from side to side) but this worked perfectly. ... show more

If you are chasing damaged threads, use extreme caution not to cross thread and start cutting new threads. Overall a high quality set of taps that I would recommend.

This is the best option for the money to ensure your European bottom bracket will thread right in cleanly. You will not find anything even remotely priced like this item. It does not come with a handle, but you can just use an adjustable wrench. I highly recommend this item for purchase.

$110 for a product that Park wants $600 for? No brainer. No complaints about the quality or the usage. Keep the instructions though to remind you that LH and RH mean left hand thread and right hand thread, NOT right hand and left hand crank sides.
