  • Good Starter Shoe
Great shoe to start climbing in. Medium flexibility, and a comfortable fit. My only qualm is that the toe rounded out quickly, but it’s still great for tough holds.

  • I'm a size 10 D width. I ordered 11.5 and it was a good fit.
Fit: Based on my rental climbing shoe experience and the what I read online, I drilled my size down to 11.5. The shoe is a good fit for my size 10 D width feet. The toes are slightly scrunched together and the heel is cupped pretty firmly. Usage: Climbing articles say it isn't supposed to be comfy to walk on and that your feet will want a break after wearing it for an extended period. These check out with me. I don't feel any discomfort while climbing but walking is a chore. I took the shoes off after twenty minutes of climbing to give my feet a break for a few minutes. After that it's back on and back on the boulder. ... show more

  • PERFECT FIT. How to choose the right fit for climbing shoes?
Such a nice well fitting shoe. The 4.3mm sole makes them to last longer than usual, depending on the intensity of the use of course. I normally wear 10.5 US size and simply went for it, and the fit was perfect. Usually regarding climbing shoes one tends to read too many far fetched opinions: ...go one size smaller (typical of veteran sport climbers), ...too tight, had to go one (or two) sizes larger (typical of unexperienced climbers). After having done Rock climbing for almost 25 years I can tell you that I have never found such a good well fitting climbing shoe as this one. How to choose the right fit? Climbing shoes fit tight, in other words, you cannot stretch your toes inside them (except for the big toe... ...and barely), climbing shoes fit tight because that is the purpose, to provide strong grip on foot holds. So, what to do? If you normally wear shoes that fit you right, not loose, not tight, go for the shoe size you normally wear. If your shoes are normally a little loose, go one size to half a size smaller. If you usually pick your shoes tight, then stay on the number you wear or go half a size larger. I repeat CLIMBING SHOES FIT TIGHT. If your are doing some sport overhanging climbing, go for a different shoe like Black Diamond's Zone, Focus or even Shadow, it doesn't make sense reducing the size for this shoe when something more appropriate for sport climbing can be found, besides your climbing performance will be better with a sport climbing type of shoe than with this one. ... show more

  • Looking for your first pair of climbing shoes? You found them.
I have started rock climbing and was looking for a good beginner's shoe instead of renting. I must say that this shoe made an incredible difference in my ability to climb. Rather than use a shoe that has been worn by others and broken in by multiple feet, I have this as a shoe that I alone have broken in. After a month of use, it has held up well, including the lack of losing its form or fit. Heel and toe hooks are a no longer a problem for me. I was also able to climb v3 boulders and 5.8 courses in the climbing gym much better with these compared to the gym's rental shoes. Another plus is those shoes are for the most part, true to size for men's (not sure about women's). There is one downside, and that is after a long time of climbing, if you want to take your feet out and let them breathe, you have to untie and lossen the laces, where as with the Black Diamond Momentum velcro option is easy on, easy off. But I have also heard from more experienced climbers, that lace up shoes are better for bracing your feet. So give or take, I personally do not have the experience to say which is better. I chose the lace up option on thier advice and they are working amazing for me. In my climbing future, I will definitely look at Black Diamond's shoe line first when looking to upgrade to a more advanced shoe. ... show more

  • SIZING and COMFORT please read.
I absolutely love these climbing shoes!!!! If you are a first time climber or thinking about getting into rock climbing or indoor rock climbing, these are a perfect beginner shoe. READ THIS PART FOR SIZING AND COMFORT. Ok, so here is my experience with this brand of shoe. When I ordered these shoes they felt tight and as if I got the wrong size. I got the same size as my regular street shoe size. Listen, you need to break in these bad boys. The rubber needs to bend and twist, because that's what you're going to be doing when rock climbing. You can adjust the laces to loosen the shoe and get that comfort feel, but once you wear them in they are awesome. I recommend that you go with your regular shoe size and as you progress you may want to get a half size smaller or bigger if it's hurting your feet after breaking them in. It took about 3 weeks for my shoes to loosen up and get that super comfortable feeling. I was wearing them for 15min a day walking around in them bending them THIS HELPS BREAK THEM IN. Now I noticed that I may need to get a half size smaller as my shoe has loosen up and I can feel my foot slide in the shoe. Would 100% buy this again, you will not be disappointed ... show more

  • Great beginner shoe for indoor.
This was my first ever, so I had to do 2 returns to get the right size. I think lace style would be good for beginners because it’ll allow new climbers to adjust and get a feel for conforming shoe/foot relation so you can feel the wall. Next pair will be strap. GREAT BEGINNER SHOE!

  • FOR NEW CLIMBERS/ Sizing Questions
This is my second pair of climbing shoes. I don't have much experience climbing, but I do know how uncomfortably tight new rock shoes are, my first shoe was wayyy too tight , but I forced myself to climb in them anyways because most “experienced climbers” said they should be tight. Personally, I think you need to ween yourself in. Your shoes should be tight , but if they hurt and ache, then you’re most likely to say this isn’t a sport I enjoy. So if you buy this shoe, DEFINITELY buy a half size up!! If you're afraid of achy toes and too tight of a fit, but one size up! I have a little bit of experience in rock shoes, so I bought half size up. They fit perfectly! (I wear 8.5 street shoe, I bought a 9) but honestly for inexperienced first time buyers, buy 1 size up, if you like the sport you’ll get used to the tightness. I hope this review helps, and remember, trim your toe nails, this will help relieve some tension ... show more
