This Encyclopedia looks and feels like a Merriam Websters Dictionary or Thesaurus from 1990. It looks like a good reference in desperate need of a cleaner format. The font face and sizings are not sufficient enough to differentiate between the game, optional rules, special scenarios, lingo and different names for the same game. This book is in desperate need of a Table of Contents. Thirteen main games make up approximately 60% of the book, everything else is either a small game, or another name for the same game with "see page 227 for further reading" ... show more

If it's a card game that can be played with one or more standard decks of 52 playing cards (with or without the Jokers) it's probably in this book. I bought it so my wife and I could brush up on various poker games for Casino Night with our friends. I am impressed with how many other games are in here. There must be hundreds. We may need to practice a lot, before we can be proficient. But, at least we will know the rules and get some nice tips on the best moves. Good purchase. ... show more
