Bought this book because I was asked for real estate investment advice from a family member who moved to the United States two years ago. I had no idea where to start, as I am risk averse myself and I would hesitate to rent out any property I owned. I started in the middle, and immediately, I learned about the different kinds of spaces on a property that can be rented. Reading about rental contract details helped me to feel less apprehensive about renting out property. For example, the section discussing roommate agreements was helpful, because I am from a culture where we swap living spaces with friends while travelling. What we do not realise is that there are contracts governing how much time we can spend in another person's property. Software can be intimidating, so I was very careful while reading this section. Property management is not something a lot of people consider when considering whether to rent out their property. Fortunately, most of the tools needed are readily available, and for free. I found the section headings quite helpful because I like to flip forwards and backwards in a handbook, and the headings are written like a search query I would plug into a search engine. This makes the book a winner for me. It is efficient, and concise. The flow from topics and subheadings were also intuitive. It was good to finally develop a common sense about real estate. Law, government regulations, best practices, as well as consumer trends, are all present in this compact guide. There is nothing more frustrating than reading a guidebook that is jumbled up. This book is packed with information! I was actually surprised at the length of the table of contents when I first opened it! I found it to be a good/easy read that was well written and informative, and things were broken down and explained in a clear way that was easy to understand. From all the different kinds of loans you can get to purchase a house, to details of rental/lease agreements with tenants, to the how-to’s and advantages of renting as an airbnb. The section on renting out storage space was an unexpected bonus! Overall, the book Is very well-rounded, and good to have on hand to be able to reference as needed. ... show more

The information is dolled out in simple language that anyone can understand. No unnecessary jargon just straight to the point of the information you're looking for.
