  • a very complete guide to car maintenance.
Format: Kindle
Filled with tips and illustrations, this book does a great job of explaining how to do preventive maintenance - a process that greatly extends the useful life of the car's moving parts. While simple enough for the handy but not skilled person, there are tips and ideas useful to any weekend mechanic even those already doing their own maintenance. Also the book includes hybrids and 4WD cars, something not found in many basic books. Recommended for anyone who wants to take part in their own car maintenance or just for someone who wants to know what is the real need for maintenance so they can confidently have the car properly maintained by local mechanics without the high cost of dealer maintenance. ... show more

  • useful car maintenance manual
Format: Paperback
This book will help you immensely understand all the systems and parts of your car that needs maintenance to function well and last a long time. Without this knowledge you will be paying the mechanic a lot of money to fix your car.

  • Good book for the basics.
Format: Paperback
Without going too in depth, this book outlines the basics of the various automobile systems, as well as basic preventative maintenance procedures. One problem I noticed is that various "schematics" were on the wrong pages (it would say refer to X below, but instead of below it would be on the previous page and such). Also, on at least one occasion it would refer to "color coded" areas of schematics that were not color, only black and white (how in the world did they miss THAT one??? Tsk tsk) ... show more

  • Simple basic reasonable advice on car manitinance
Format: Paperback
Although slightly outdated he is dead on when he talks about how to make your car last forever. Pro's: good practical advice about how to take care of your car. Good introduction to the topic. Con's: probably not a book for the advanced auto mechanic. But the majority of mechanics would agree with his advice ... show more

Very good ebook. Some ebooks amount to little more than a shot essay. This guy gives you your money's worth. Well thought out, concise and well illustrated.

  • Not that informative
Format: Paperback
First off this book was written over a decade ago so information, especially about service intervals, may be dated. Secondly it was obviously written by a service writer/technician. Most of the advice can be summed up by taking your car to the shop at least a couple of times a year and to the car wash once a week(!). It would be nice if I had a place where I could just go in and have a diagnostic test run because I had a feeling about how well the car is running, but unfortunately that approach is expensive. Not a bad book, but not really telling you anything except follow the service intervals, or maybe even go in more often. I think that there are other things that can be done as well, such as how you drive, but not quite so much on that. ... show more
