I purchased this reading bench to put next to a dress-up rack (also purchased through Amazon) to create a neat and inviting kids corner in my finished basement. The book bench came quickly, very well packaged and fairly easy to put together myself (64 year old grandmother). It took approx. 2 hrs, but that’s because I worked slowly and carefully to follow the instructions and tighten each piece of hardware securely. I found it best to take it one step at a time laying out only the pieces and hardware needed for the step that I was on. That way you are sure you have the step done properly if there are no pieces and hardware remaining and then feel confident to move onto the next step, again laying out only the pieces needed for the next step. They do give you a few extra dowels, screws, etc. overall but each step in the instructions tells you exactly how many pieces are needed for that step. They even give you a small supply of white stickers to cover many of the screw holes, for a clean, finished look. All of the holes lined up and it went together relatively easy. Nothing was cracked, broken or missing. I love that the cubbies and book shelves are different sizes, making it easy to organize a wide variety of book and toy sizes. My 4 and 2 yr old grandsons love climbing up on it and sitting together on it while I sit on the floor in front of them and read stories to them. Great unit and well worth the $$$. ... show more

Overall this is definitely worth a buy. I did the assembly myself, and it took a couple of hours. Make sure you pay special attention to the instructions - there are a few times where I had to disassemble and go back 3-4 steps to slide in a backing board or switch around one of the pieces. It's a little too easy to miss some of the steps. However, we've gotten plenty of use out of it. It's sitting right in the living room, very practical for them to store things in and even sit on. It's not that comfortable, but young kids don't care, lol. Overall, it's a great buy, not too bad of an assembly, and it's very useful. ... show more

Got this bookshelf/ bench for my daughter’s “big girl” room. We had fast shipping, it came well packaged and all of the parts were in great shape. This turned out to be pretty high quality wood and came with easy to use hardware. It feels very sturdy now that it is together and it holds almost all of my daughter’s toys, as well as plenty of books. It does really need two people for assembly because you have to flip it up a lot to get to the bottom. It’s also pretty heavy. ... show more

I got this before Christmas when I knew my son would be getting more toys. Assembly was easy once I found where the pieces were labeled, they used tiny stickers on the edges. The amount of storage space this bench has a great. A main downfall of the storage area is that the normal square pull storage bins that are cloth do not fit in any of the areas. I spent a lot of time trying to find bins that would fit and the ones I found for the different sized areas unfortunately don't match. Maybe the company can create bins that fir in the compartments that match in different themes. I love that the bench can fit both my son and I for reading books but wished that there was a way to attach the cushion to the bench so my toddler doesn't continuously take it off. ... show more

I bought this for my daughter room when I moved into my place after my divorce. She had always been sharing room with me since she was born and I wanted something to put her toys in. I have had this for a over a year now and it has hold up well. Delivery was on the time frame they gave me, didn't take long. Assembly took about an 1 1/2 for my ex-husband to build, a bit heavy, but the quality is good. It hold my weight plus my daughter weight all at once, I am 5/5 180lbs and she is now about 30 lbs. I ordered this for my son new room for when I moved I wasn't able to open the box for a month or so and when I finally was able to set it up I had broke apart I really need it to get it together.
