I swapped standard white plastic hangers for these (we already standardized on one hanger for the entire house - so this was an unnecessary upgrade but I like them so much better). These do break (with heavy jacket or bulky hoodie sweatshirt) but are much more sturdy. I was breaking the plastic ones with my jacket - at least 1-2 month and have only broken 2 of these in many months. One of the best thing is the little metal hanging part takes up a lot less space on the bar and also swivels around so the clothes are facing the correct direction without paying attention to how they go on the hanger. If you are taking the time to spring clean the closet and to get rid of old/improper sized clothes bite the bullet and purchase these. These hangers are great. I did not witness any of the flaws that a few others describe. The hangers were east to part. They did not stick together. They did not produce a discernable dust. The metal hooks did not break from the hanger. The hangers did not break. My heavy three piece suits did not strain the hanger. And the velvet texture did wonders on holding all garments. We have purchased multiple packs of these now! I started converting my plastic closet hangers to these velvet covered hangers and was immediately sold on redoing all of our clothes. Things hang nicely, give you better visibility, and allow a better use of space without the chunky plastic hangers cluttering things up and taking a ton of room.
