Wish they had stuff like these when I was a kid! Gave this to my 5 year old nephew and he loved it. Mario Kart + Hot Wheels how can you go wrong?

Bought this child for my young son who loves Mario. He already has the big Mario race track so I thought this would be a nice addition to it. When you insert it into the race track it provides another fun obstacle for the cars to get caught in while racing. But if you intend to use it on its own it really is of rather poor design. The hammer that is supposed to make the car go around in a loop around the track does not provide enough force to propel the car even half way. Furthermore the U-turn piece at the end of the track easily comes off. For a toddler that is constantly miss handling the track this is a real dealbreaker as it constantly falls apart. I suppose you could glue the U-turn piece to it to fix this problem but if you ever intended to use this piece with the bigger race track set in the long run you would make it unusable. I would say this is a nice toy to buy a toddler who Is not old enough to care about toy quality. For an older child above 6, I think they would quickly recognize the problems with this and become as frustrated as I have with it. ... show more
