My daughter has shown an interest and has true talent so I wanted to get something I could use and she could learn. I ordered this set because of the sheer number of items you received. I rarely do fondant covered cakes but do A LOT of decorating accents with fondant and sugar paste. This set is FANTASTIC. The molds and presses are heavy plastic with a huge assortment of every size flower, star, leaf, four-leaf clover, star, etc. that you would ever need. The presses have a plunger so you can easily push out your shape without having to pry it out or off the non-stick surface and having it deform while doing this. The fondant hand tools are nice. The tips of the tools are heavy plastic and will easily shape or sculpt what you need. The handles are a bit light weight and the tips fit snuggly into them but can be pulled out with a little pressure. The set is 46 pieces ( misquoted in my video and said 48 pieces) and an outstanding value for beginners or the experienced. ... show more

Some of these ‘after market’, made in ChinA cake tools—-are going to do nothing but give you straight headache. Cake artistry is supposed to be therapeutic and fun. These are nothing but ‘look like a bargain but actually many pieces of...wasted money’. Period. These are not ‘Cake Artist Friendly’ but they are indeed.... ‘Trash Can Friendly’. See video. And no....rubbing your finger over cutter before punching out sugar paste—doesn’t help. ... show more

    • Plastic seams everywhere, crooked smoother, get what you pay for

I bought these to use for my cake/decoration making cottage business. The plastic of the tools is very lightweight and flimsy. You can tell right off where the savings went. But ok, that's not a deal-breaker. However, the smoother is not flat. At all. This makes it completely unusable. The modeling tools themselves seemed fine and versatile, until I realized the plastic seam where they were molded together is very pronounced and located on the flat surface I'd use against the fondant. Not on the sides where they'd be out of the way. This would leave "scratch" marks on anything they touched. To be fair, the tools such as the flower petal detailer would be ok, but the veining tool, bone tool and ball tool are useless. Anything smooth is ruined by the seams. The rolling pin is "eh". It also has scratch lines all over it from manufacturing (I assume), but they are minor, so as long as you don't mind slight graining, it will work. I am not going to bother with it, however. The only thing I don't have a problem with is the seam cutter/stitch making tool. This one tool is good, no problem. If you are looking for a set to make a cake for fun and just once in a while, this set (other than the smoother - that's just junk) is fine and affordable. If you are hoping for quality tools at a good price, this is not the set you want. ... show more

I chose this set because I only bake for my little family and just wanted something to play with to see if I would be able to pull off some more complex fondant work before investing in something expensive. The tools are barely usable. The tops pop off easily and there are molding seams along most of the tops making it so they will leave marks in the fondant. Pretty disappointed and wish I'd purchased one of the other options I had been considering. ... show more

Disclaimer: I bought this to use with Polymer Clay, not fondant. So my review is for the use with clay, not with fondant. Desite that, I know that clay tools and fondant tools are usually the same, and used for the same things, so I'm writing the review regardless. Ok, let's just go over the individual pieces in this set one by one, because some of them I love- others not so much. We'll start with the tools it gives you- a set of 8, yellow handles, plastic tools. The tools are great, and though I don't use them with fondant, I can tell you that they're going to work perfectly. There's lots of variety and I find myself reaching for them constantly among my other, more expensive sculpting tools. The only downside to these is the pastic seam running down the middle of most. A little sanding took care of that, and for the price, honestly, the set is amazing. I can deal with a little seam. The rolling pin. The pin itself is great- the rubber bands you're supposed to use to make sure that you roll your findant level are crap. They slide off the ends when you're using it, ust use a pasta machine. The pin is good for sizing down a big blob, though, to get it to a manageable size for the pasta machine. The smoother- I didn't use this. I tossed it in the trash. I didn't need it. Sorry! The stampers come in an overwhelming number of sizes and designs, and they work great. I was worried they'd get stuck or give me problems, but they haven't and I'm so glad that I bought them! I'm not going to review each one individually because it's pointless. They all work, they do what they're supposed to, they come in different sizes. Overall I think this kit is amazing, cheap, and for the money you're spending you won't find this set anywhere else. ... show more

These are good for fun in your kitchen but not a serious cake decorator. The cutters don't have sharp enough edges to cut. The stampers don't push to the edge so the fondant gets stuck inside them. The shaping tools have seams so they can't be used at all. Based on the type of item I didn't think anyone could mess them up. The manufacturer found a way. SUPER disappointed.
