  • Easy to use
Format: Paperback
We have been using Horizon Math since 2nd grade. It is well-designed and easy to follow. There are lots of colorful illustrations which make it easier for young children to study math. The length of the lessons is balanced and each lesson starts with some explanation about the topic it deals with.

  • Wonderful
Format: Paperback
We have used Horizon's math for years. The circular method of teaching concepts has been incredibly beneficial for each of our children and is the primary reason we chose Horizon's math versus other popular math programs. The concepts are introduced, explained well, and then reintroduced and brought back again many times giving the child a chance to truly learn and remember versus seeing it for only a week or two and not again the entire year. This also helps children to get through each assignment as they can be assured that there will be problems that they already know and builds their confidence versus only having new concept and being frustrated the entire time of math. After years of using this for multiple children with different learning styles I can truly say it has worked for each one and can be adapted to suit each one. From not using every extra worksheet or only doing alternating problems when you, as the teacher, know they truly have the concept, to implementing and following every step provided in the teacher's guide to help the struggling child really understand. Some children benefit from using the hands on manipulatives they suggest while other learning styles do not need them. It is truly adaptable for any child. It does require the teacher to spend time making sure they understand the concepts and are able to explain them in a way their child can understand for it to work well. Sometimes, youtube videos can be a great help if your child seems to need a different way of understanding the concept you are working on. It's all about finding and using your child's learning style. Each of our children have tested very well on the math portion of the yearly standardized test they take leaving no doubts in our minds that this program/books are more than doing their job in helping our children learn and retain the math concepts taught. ... show more

  • Good math curriculum
Format: Paperback
Pages are colorful and easy to read. My son feels challenged by this book. The teacher’s guide is helpful but not as detailed as other math curriculums I have used. It has the answers for quick checking and suggestions / math problems for prepping for each lessons.

  • Excellent Math Program
Format: Paperback
I used these books to home school my daughter. They were a little confusing at times and sometimes seemed to jump around. I used the Teacher book as well and recommend to get it to use with these books.

As a homeschool mom of 5 for over 25 years, I call highly recommend Horizons math curriculum. I’ve tried many math curriculums to change it up a bit but always go back to Horizons math. It’s an easy to use, easy to teach consumable workbook.

  • Horizons Math is great for Homeschoolers

My kids have always done Horizons Math. These workbooks do a great job introducing new math concepts while working in review along the way of older concepts. This works well for my kids. We also like the colorful pictures puzzles and fun codes they work into the problems. We don't know of any other Math program that does this. It just helps to keep it a little more exciting. ... show more

  • Well designed easy to understand.
Format: Paperback
We use these math books in our homeschooling curriculum. The kids like the colorful pages and the explanations of new concepts is clear and concise. The book is constantly reviewing concepts previously learned, cementing them in the childs brain. I find these to be ahead of the public school curriculum for the same grade. ... show more
