We need dairy-free milk at our house and I was looking for a shelf-stable powdered form for use in case of emergencies. We don't generally drink milk, but we use it for cooking frequently and that's what I was wanting to do with this. Typically, we use store-bought almond milk. The first time I used this in a recipe, it was to make a roux-based cream sauce. It thickened right away like normal, but after about 30 seconds, I noticed that it became thin again! It was the weirdest thing. I thought I maybe made a mistake and tried again the next day on a similar recipe. Same thing! I don't know if the difference between this and store-bought milk is that store-bought dairy-free milk has stabilizers and gums in it or what, but this will ruin your recipes. I tried with another brand of powdered oat milk after this and got the same result. Do not use this for cooking (baking might be ok, but I didn't try that). I gave this three stars because I'm sure it's fine in cereal and smoothies, but it doesn't work for what I needed it for. ... show more

We switched from whole milk to oat milk over a year ago and the whole family is happy other than the boy. He still prefers bovine milk. We're trying to be healthier and help the planet so have drastically cut back on animal products. The problem is that supermarket oat milk is about 50% to 100% more expensive. It has a much longer shelf life so I can buy a bunch when on sale, but still expensive. I have purchased other Hoosier Farms products in the past and found them to be quite good so took a chance on this. So the thing is, you have to blend it. If you try mixing a scoop of this into a glass of water, it's going to be lumpy and grey. Put one cup of powder into your blender, add 3 cups of warm (not hot) water and blend. Put this in the fridge and serve it with cereal in the morning. I keep it in a large glass juice bottle with a lid (the kind that mango nectar comes in). Remember to give it a shake every time you use it as it might settle a little. For creamer for my coffee, I made a small jar or slightly thicker mix and it froths up nicely. ... show more

On a whim, I did a search to see if there was any such thing as powdered oak milk a few days before we left for a 12-day backpacking trip and found this product. It is really delicious and even though the instructions say to blend it, which is impossible on a backpacking trip, we found that simply putting it in our hot drinks and stirring vigorously did the trick, enough to enjoy anyway. There were sweet little bits of undissolved oat powder, but we liked this and didn't mind it at all. We like this much better than the coconut milk powder we had brought on past trips. ... show more

Oat milk cartons are one of our biggest waste streams and requires fridge space to keep in stock. This bag will make dozens of liters of milk and reduce our waste. Tastes great in coffee. But to really get it to mix well I suggest blending in a high powered blender for 15 seconds. Joi milk also makes a great reusable milk jug that seals tight so you can give the bottle a shake before you pour. ... show more

Don't want to bash the product, but this was not the hype I thought it would be. Reading all these reviews, I don't see why it's so "good" to those who gave it great ratings. I bought this to replace getting boxes that require being refrigerated and expire quickly. It's 35 calories per 8g and a cup of regular oat milk is about 120. So, I put 120 calories worth of powder, mix it with cold water, and bam ...thin, nom creamy grossness. I understand there is no fat in the product, but for me it defeats the purpose of the purchase. No way I am going to double-triple the amount of calories just to make one cup of oat milk. ... show more

I just received it and I tasted it on a spoon. It is delish. I went to buy another bag but it is unavailabl,and could possibly not return. Please say it is not so. I will come back to review further once I start to make milk. Thank you Hoosier Hill Farm.
