My husband enjoyed reading this!!!!

  • Intriguing as a biography and instructive as a business text
Format: Hardcover
Sometimes biographies of the living are made much more interesting by the passage of time, and this book is no exception. Written in the mid-1970s when Soichiro Honda was still alive and his company only starting to enter the US auto market with the Civic (at the time, its only car in the American market), this book vividly portrays what might be called the "DNA" of the company -- the ideas, structures, and spirit of the firm that directed what it has become today. At the time of writing, Honda was still very much a scrappy upstart -- not one of the world's largest automakers and surely its dominant maker of small engines. Easy to read, sufficient but not overwhelming in detail, and ultimately quite fascinating to anyone familiar with the story of Honda as it has evolved since. ... show more

  • Honda? Not what you would probably think
Format: Hardcover
This book opened my eyes to a whole new way of seeing my favorite motorcycle company. I am a fan of their cars too but it has always been their two wheeled machines that have had me hooked. The best thing about the book is what an "American Story" Sochiro Honda was. From nothing to greatness in his field in a single lifetime. Honda tried and failed and went back to school and succeeded. He worked HARD as a young man to even get to a position to launch what we now think of as Honda. A really neat read, it will surprise you. ... show more

  • Well told story of a very interesting man.
Format: Hardcover
Mr Honda was a rare individual who had a fascinating life. Slows down some when they are discussing the auto industry but a good read. Recommended.
