I bought this as an expandable storage system to help wrangle my knitting supplies/yarn stash, and the cubbies did not disappoint. The whole thing is easy to assemble, disassemble, and reconfigure or add do as needed, but is still reasonably sturdy. It is absolutely not suitable for holding anything heavy, but a huge pile of yarn, needles, tools, and pattern books? It's perfect. The whole thing took me maybe a half hour to assemble by myself, and it's quite light and easy to move. The shelves came with optional zip ties to secure the connecting corners, but I found that a few taps with the included hammer made everything fit snugly. The assembly directions are bare-bones and took a minute of trial and error to figure out how to get the connectors on right, so be prepared that they aren't particularly useful. The quality of the organizer is okay (this is what I get for trying to buy cheaper options, but it is better than most). I wanted to like this product, but the assembling of the parts got me wanting to throw everything away. I love assembling things from places like IKEA and Home Depot and anywhere else with the need to assemble, but I’ve never been so frustrated about assembling before. Like come on, this is supposed to be light and easier than wood. The little clings are also easy to break if you forcefully try to connect every shelf close to each other. I say maybe I was being a perfectionist (part of this review will not help most people) because I didn’t want to see any large gaps between each shelf and I certainly had to disassemble from top to bottom again when I found they were about close to coming off because they were either just stuck in one edge and wouldn’t budge to the other end. I used the hammer provided and that did absolutely nothing. The only thing good about the assembling was when the shelf was vertical and you could just push it down onto the clings, but any other direction? It was so much work for something so simple. And I also found the smell to be a bit much for my nose when I unpacked and started assembling right away, but of course over time that smell would fade away. In the end, I just assembled to 2 columns and 3 rows when I wanted to do 4 rows, but at that point, I just gave up on trying to make matters worse for me. Pros:good price point, comes apart to move and transport Cons: Requires a lot of pressure to get the corner connectors in place, we used a small mallet as it was easier. Also the white part is made of a thin plastic, also or like a plastic folder type, and it doesn’t seem to hold up very well. Some came already split, and I think the force required to assemble also pulls on the plastic. It may be a good piece to have if you need something temporary or in the price range. It will still hold up I believe to hold things, but the edges may start breaking. Although it could probably still get the job done overall, as long as the middle part holds up, which I think it would. ... show more
