This was a pretty straightforward purchase, easy to find my size and desired color in their inventory. The shutters themselves are lightweight, but also a little flimsy compared to the ones I was replacing. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, you just want to be careful not to over tighten. I have replaced some that were in brick using the plastic "nails" that operate sort of like the old finger traps where you nail them in easily, but then you can't pull them back out. Make sure you follow the instructions and have sufficient hole depth using a masonry bit, otherwise you will not be able to finish driving the "nail" and will have to remove/re-bore with the masonry bit. One of the great things about this company is that you have room for error, they provide plenty of extra screws/screw caps/plastic nails if you mess up the first time, I really appreciated that. The ones that were not in brick were very easy, I marked the shutters I was removing and used them as templates for the new holes by placing them directly on top of the new ones and drilling the holes. After that it couldn't have been easier, just make sure not to over tighten. The plastic screw caps were nifty, haven't seen anything like them before and like I said, they provide extra hardware if you make a mistake while figuring out whatever system works best for your situation. ... show more

We have a 1951 brick home. The shutters on the side of the house were in poor condition and were low quality. We had shopped around big box stores, talked to a contractor, and searched the internet. Then we found these shutters. Since the customer ratings were good, we decided to purchase as set. And we are very happy with them. I did not care for the rivets on the front of the shutter. Or old shutters had some sort of rivet on the front. My husband created an internal frame for the shutter which he attached to the brick. The frame was made out of 3/4" by 1 1/2" wood furring strips. After he mounted the framework, he placed the shutter against the brick and then used 1 1/4' exterior screws to secure the shutter from the top and bottom . He used the provided washer and cap. As you can see in the image, the top and bottom mountings are hardly obvious unless you look closely. We just ordered two more sets of shutters. ... show more
