    • Dog food recipes
This is a satisfactory, basic guide to making your dog's food. However, it was obviously poorly proof-read with lots of misspellings. The recipes are a bit repetitive --- more variations on a theme --- but it's an okay place to start when you're looking for ideas on how to make pet food.

    • A most disorganized publication
We (I) purchased this dog- food prep cookbook thinking that it had all of the information we needed to make great home-cooked food for our dog. Upon arrival, was surporised to see how unprofessional this publication happened to be. It was JUST published a few days after I ordered it! The contents were helter-skelter - no ryhme or reason why treats were intermixed with real meals then jumped to desserts etc. One recipe for a meal did not give the amount of ingredients on combining the chicken liver with etc. Some recipes were repeated. I may use a couple of the meal recipes, but, in all honesty, this book was a big mistake. Never heard of either of "Julia & Oliver" - no last names. This book must have been a first attempt for them. So sorry to say that it shows. By the way--the title show read "Healthy and Safe Homemade Dog Food Recipes". I should add that these recipes are supposedly vet approved. There is NO mention of a veterinarian anywhere in the book so I have no idea how that can be a viable claim. If I did not bend a few pages over to mark as a possible recipe to try, I would send the book back. As it is, I am stuck. Advice to you? Do not buy this book. Look for a cookbook that has more than 1 review. I sure don't know what I was thinking!!! ... show more

I want to start making my own dog food. There are some great recipes in the book. However, none of them say how much they make so you can figure out your portions. Are these recipes Vet approved?

The book was not proof read Very well..IE: there wasn't Chicken in the ingredient list but the instructions said to add it. How much was not mentioned. I found several Typos ..

Great recipes for dog treats, but I’m rating it based on the title of Dog Food so I’m giving a 2. I was expecting it to have real dog food recipes. If I had wanted a book for treats I would rate as a 5. Most of the recipes are more or less for treats. I wanted a book that would give me recipes for sufficient amounts of dog food. My dogs go through 42 cups of homemade dog food a week. I will be returning the book. ... show more

    • Book needs major editing. Very aggravating to read ingredients in an up down chopped format
We read left to right. When writing a recipe it should say 1 lb of chopped chicken. NOT 1 lb of Chopped Chicken Some ingredients are set in column covering two pages. Many recipes are exactly like the previous books I looked at. Glad I didn't pay for this book!
