An excellent addition to any kitchen, this smoky coffee brown baker's rack not only puts things in a good location, but also provides storage for those hard to place items. The rectangular metal frame gives rigid construction while incorporating lovely decorative scrolls and small antique bronze accents.Scrollwork and bric-a-brac entice the eye when looking at this piece. A bottom shelf and tabletop working surface are finished in a rich mahogany stain, plus a wonderful wine rack directly beneath stores four bottles and enhances the main work surface. The upper two shelves inlaid with clear glass create a beautiful display area, and the top shelf also hosts a rack for wine glasses on the bottom side. This Modern farmhouse style rack features 6 hanging stemware racks and 4 wine bottle holders; Shelves are (2) tempered and (2) veneered. First thoughts...the metal color was a surprise. It is more like a dark taupey steel color (maybe with a tinge of dark olive). I was really worried that the color would not go with my decor (black and dark brown wood dining set). The second surprise...the round decorative medallions. They are actually faux finished to look like an aged hammered metal. Basically, it looks looks they took black matte paint and a shiny gold paint and filled in the circles. I was surprised by this and my first thought was that it would look tacky. When I put it all together, though, it actually went with the whole piece and the medallions have actually grown on me (again, they look a little cheesy if you go up really close and inspect them, but if you stand back a bit it looks fine). One big hassle, though, was the assembly! A few of the pilot holes to connect the wood top did not line up properly and I needed to make my own pilot holes will a drill in order to insert the wood screws. A second hassle was connecting the scrollwork to the back and tabletop. They didn't want to join together at first, and I had to place textbooks on the tabletop in order to weigh the top back down as it was being pulled up by the tension of the side scrollwork/back of the "hutch" piece. Third problem- the metal on the lower glass shelf was not alligning properly where it needed to be screwed and unless I somehow figured how to bend the metal without breaking the thing, I think the one shelf will be stuck with only being secured on the front side... not sure if others had all these assembly problems, but it took me about two hours to put together. I still would give the finished piece four stars. It was well-packaged, looks very nice in my apartment (not super tiny, not huge and imposing), has very attractive detailing, and the wood (don't think it is real wood, but was stained/doesn't look like cheap particle board) has a rich dark finish. From the other reviews on Amazon, I was prepared for the color to be different than the picture. And I love it! I think the olive tone of the bars with the dark stain on the wood shelves is fantastic. Unfortunately a couple things stood out immediately, this particular rack was made in a hurry and was either not QA'd or standards are terribly low. Example: The medallions on the rack are (for the most part) not flush. [See pics] Worse, one of the metal legs, connecting to the center medallion at the top is too short. To make up the distance, whomever put the rack together just used more solder. [See pic] Those are a couple of cosmetic annoyances, but all the reviews talked about how sturdy the rack is. I would agree for the most part. But it would seem the soldering was again an issue. One of the vertical bars was disconnected (it probably came loose in shipping due to the poor solder job). Also the horizontal bar that the medallions connect to was disconnected on one side (again, awful soldering job, see pic). I ended up using Gorilla Glue on both joints overnight and it seems to be solid enough. With the top wood shelf, there appears to be a consistent lip on the left side (when looking at it), which is great. Unfortunately, the right side is a mess. It starts okay enough (flush to the back), but then the leg juts out. [See pic] I must also note that while I was able to use the guiding screw holes on the left side and the back right, the front right doesn't come close to lining up. Similarly, I didn't know where to start on the bottom shelf. I start on one side, put the screws in half-way to give some wiggle room, but then the holes wouldn't come close to lining up on the other side. I ended up drilling some new holes in both boards. I wouldn't buy this (or anything else from Southern Enterprises) again based on this experience. ... show more

As noted by a previous reviewer, the color did not match the amazon stock photo. I would have been happy with a slightly olive color (as the other reviewer mentioned), but ours was more of a slate color which does not match our kitchen as well as olive or the product photo would have. Other than the color discrepancy and the detailing at the top looking a bit cheap, the rack is functional and looks very nice overall. My husband did have to bend the metal a bit to make the holes line up, but once all the screws were in place the unit is surprisingly sturdy. The two wooden shelves are a beautiful reddish color and very solid. ... show more

I really enjoy this bakers rack. It was simple to put together and seems quite sturdy.I like the look/quality of the shelves, especially the wooden one. My biggest complaint is that teh rack is not tru to color. When it arrived, it was more of an olive green than any kind of brown or copper as it looked in teh picture. I was VERY disappointed in the color, however, I love the rack so kept it! ... show more

Nice solid rack, but most wine glasses do not fit in the glass holders! The color is nice and its easy to assemble if you are handy!

I read the other reviews regarding the color. Didn't have a problem with that. The glass holder was broken at one of the welds. I ordered a replacement part. Waiting.

    • Bakers Rack
We love this backers rack as an addition to our newly redecorated family room. The only complaint we have is that inserting a bottle in the middle openings of the bottle rack was difficult if not impossible. My husband was able to bend the metal so that we now can do that. It was easy to assemble.

The package for the original shipment was damaged and the hardware was missing. however, none of the parts were damaged. I contacted SEI and they sent the hardware. It's sturdy and I like the baker's rack.
