  • Nice sound, With Lots of Frustrations
The LittleSax is a great way to make music. I got it because I though it would be a nice way to set in my chair and play. It is advertised as a 2 octive instrument. It can hit 2 octives but not at first. You will need to learn how to bend notes. The instructions that you can download is not very clear. Being in Chinese with English notes flashed on the screen every now and then. I have ask for the sheet music that can be sent via email several times with no respons. I can get good sounds from it but the fingering of the notes are strange. You will need to learn the numbering system used because it is not in traditional music notes. I also own the Minisax which is a similar insterment with a more traditional fingerings. I do love the low full tone of the LittleSax. ... show more

  • Portable but hard to play
It’s a compact size, but it takes an effort to make sound and tune is not there.

  • A Right Choice
This “8-Hole LittleSax” was ordered on 3/5/20 and arrived on 3/10/20. It seems to be a well-made and nice looking instrument. Following the included instruction, it’s easy to assemble and ready to play. While never playing with any instrument with this type of mouthpiece before, I was able to play some simple melodies right away. The recorder type of finger holes is very helpful. In fact, it’s a nine hole system, for there is one more hole than usual for right thumb in back side. Though the size is about 2” longer than a soprano recorder, it’s sound is loud enough to me. Glad to make a right choice. ... show more

  • It's as hard to play as any sax
It's a sax. You can't just get a nice note out of it if you don't already know how to play a sax. I play recorders, and I keep trying out all sorts of wind instruments, and the fact is, the good old fashioned recorder -- the classic blockflute -- you can get a decent note without trying. The main problem with recoders is they are loud and hurt your ears. What I do for practicing is I take a fuzzy pipe cleaner (you can get them at Michaels) and make an adjustable mute that goes over the hole in the side of the recorder, and fiddle around with it until the sound is softer and easier on my ears, but still clear enough. That's what everyone looking for an "easy" instrument to play needs to do, I think. This baby sax isn't it. ... show more

  • Powerful little instrument
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this to learn how to play a reed instrument. It took a few weeks but I was able to get the hang of it eventually. The included mouthpiece is so-so, consider getting a basic Yamaha 4C alto mouthpiece to speed up your learning process. I'd also suggest starting with Plasticover 1.0 reeds. That's what I'm using in the video. The video has reverb on it, just an FYI. All in all, I consider this a good deal at this price for people wanting a playable first reed instrument. ... show more

  • No full instructions on how to correct screechy sounds
There were no instructions but a link to a YouTube video. Unfortunately I didn’t fully understand what all of the pieces were for as it looks like they were put on and taken right back off again. I think I put it together as shown but the sound is terrible and I don’t know how to correct it. I don’t see other videos on it to compare it to. ... show more

  • Not Fun—Yet
I just got this pipe today. I was so excited to have something in the key of C so I wouldn’t have to transpose to play with my friends. I was also thinking it would be so much easier to set up than my alto or tenor sax. I even thought it would be much easier to play given the small size. Well, I put it together, which was very easy. But when I tried to play it, I was very glad I know how to play a regular sax. At least I could get sound out of it. It took a huge amount of breath to play three or four notes. I changed out the ligature and reed for some I knew worked well on my alto. That helped a little. I’m going to keep trying to play it snd hope for the best. UPDATE: I gave up after several attempts to play. I couldn't sustain the amount of air it takes to get notes out of this pipe. Returned. ... show more
