When I started shopping for a jewelry armoire, I wanted a more contemporary design. But what I found was either out of my budget, had horrible/no pictures of the inside, was too small or had less than stellar reviews (far less!). So while the look of this particular armoire was not really what I was going for, it ticked all of the other boxes for me. #1: It is a pretty good size. I was able to consolidate several jewelry boxes into this and clean up my dresser considerably. I have quite a lot of jewelry so I wasn't able to fit all of it but it does hold a lot. #2: It is reasonably priced for the size and quality. It is a sturdy piece of furniture even though it is comprised of mostly MDF--it has a solid feel and looks beautiful. #3: I love the key. It is stupid I know. It only locks the top part but it's cute--to me it is more of a decorative detail than a true anti-theft device. (It does not like to stay in the keyhole though.). #4: It arrived well packaged and (mostly?) damage free. It had a scratch/scrape on the back side but it was VERY minor and I can't be sure that I didn't do it myself when I was trying to get it out of the box and upstairs to my bedroom. But whether I caused it or it arrived that way makes no difference to me. It is not noticeable as it is on the back in the particle board and doesn't interfere with it's function or appearance. My one gripe is that the listing photos show a pocket at the bottom of each of the doors to catch long necklaces and keep them from getting shut in the door or tangled. That was actually one of the features I wanted in an armoire since I have a lot of long necklaces but sadly it was absent on mine. Overall this armoire was one of several I was considering and this one was the least like my design preferences but I chose it because I felt it would be the most functional within my budget and not be total junk. I feel like I made a good decision. It looks more expensive than it was. Plus it is really pretty. I actually think it looks great in my bedroom and is close in color to my dresser. ... show more

    • Lovely jewelry armoire
I purchased this item in walnut. It's very pretty, and sturdier than the cheaper one I had bought years earlier from a department store (with particle board drawer slides which have broken off). Just a note that the key and lock are difficult to use; key has to be inserted the exact right way. I don't plan on using that feature, so I consider the key more decorative. Also, the draws have a slight forward curve to them. This adds to the style but if you plan to mostly store your jewelry in boxes, you might want to shop for a Hives and Honey armoire that is just straight across the front. ... show more

This is a great piece of furniture. Well made, well thought out, excellently shipped. Plus you cannot beat the price, you could pay double for a similar item. Comes with a variety of storage compartments, the drawers lean out so you can see the items with no worry that the draw will fall out. And I must repeat the shipping was expert, wrapped to prevent scratches and with large foam block offsets to prevent banging. A small amount of assembly is required to attach the lid to the top, it is just a few screws but it helps to have a second set of hands. The joints are not dove tailed, which is what I prefer to see but it is still solidly built. My only wish is that they made even more types fantastic furniture. ... show more

    • Beautiful for the price.
I was looking for a good quality Armoire but did not want to pay an arm & leg for one- so based on the reviews,( and the price compared to similar ones out there on the market), I decided to go with this one from Hives and Honey. First of all, the color is darker than what appears in the picture, but this is ok because it still matches my décor beautifully. The armoire arrived very quickly & was nicely packaged to prevent damage. I was slightly concerned when I saw a large gash in the side of the box, but when my husband and I opened it- the armoire itself was in perfect condition due to the Styrofoam shell around it- plus I loved the fact that it came preassembled when made moving it to its finally resting place a lot nicer. Mine did come with a working key, however the key only locks the top lid that closes down and did not lock any of the drawers- this may not be an issue for some, but personally, I would have preferred it lock at least one or two of the drawers.. There is, however, a TON of storage, which is ABSOLETY wonderful for those of us who have a lot of jewelry, and the drawers are quite large, so each one holds quite a bit. I was, however, slightly disappointed that if you try to open the drawers all the way to utilize the space in the back, they fall forward and just kind of hang there and there isn't any way to adjust them. I think it would have been nicer if there was a track inside, like in your kitchen cabinets, to prevent this from happening. For the price, and look, I would give this more than 5 stars if possible because it defiantly gives the appearance of a high dollar armoire at an affordable price....but for me, I have to mark it down slightly because of the flopping drawers and the key only locking the top. Overall- I would recommend this armoire if you are looking for something that is inexpensive, looks great and holds a lot of jewelry - you will not be disappointed on that fact, but..... if how the drawers open and close and whether or not you want something that completely locks- this may not be the armoire for you. ... show more
