I use a lot of Hills products. But, I should have realized that crunchy meant that it could be too dried out and stiff for an elderly dog to chew. Elderly dogs who have had regular dental care probably have had some extractions. This product is too crunchy for an elderly dog to chew. I have used a knife to split the treats into smaller pieces that would be less stressful to the mouth of the elderly dog. The treats are rather large and I cannot hand the treat directly to the small dog. My large dog could take the whole treat, but she is also missing a few teeth.
