  • Good value for the money, made "well enough"
Size: 6L
LET ME FIRST TELL YOU SOMETHING TRUE: This is an Chinese product. It is not different than any of the other identical looking Chinese-made ultrasonic cleaners. Look at the product images, they are all the same. So don't waste your time agonizing over which one of the identical items to get. Find the best price and buy that one. Now, to review the item... CONSTRUCTION: I can't say it's "well made" necessarily. But I am comfortable saying that it is easily made "well enough". It doesn't fall apart in your hands, the materials are adequate. The lid kind of tells most of the story. The product photos give you a mental image of the kind of heavy duty lid you'd see from a nice catering company or something. But, while certainly adequate, it's thinner than you'd expect. I could fold it up without too much effort. I tried to get a picture, but capturing such a thing isn't easy. You can kind of get an idea from the spot welds on the handle maybe. It's good enough though; straight and fits the tank well. The drain valve is cheap, but adequate. I didn't see any "goop" or anything in mine as other reviewers (on this product and other identical product listings) have seen. It was clean inside. I'm 100% sure I'll be replacing it eventually though. Sooner or later, one day. It's not a quality ball valve by any stretch. But again, adequate. And likely easy to replace anyway. *shrug* The buttons on the front are clicky and easy to use without pushing the whole thing over. I was concerned about that, but it turned out to be a non-issue. I can see how they'll eventually crack around the edges though after enough use. Kind of expected with this style of button, and not unique to this product. CAPACITY: This is supposed to be a 6L. I think that MIGHT be correct if you fill it to the very brim to overflowing. Realistically it's more like 4-4.5L (space at the top, anticipated displacement, etc). I think this measurement method is likely true for all of these. Like a 3L is realistically more like 2L, a 10L is more like an 7.5-8L, etc. Not a big deal I think. Just looking at the product photos and watching some Youtube vids is probably good enough to get an idea if it'll work for your purposes. FUNCTION: I didn't really have anything to clean (and I'm not exactly Project Farm over here). I did do the foil test though. I only had the heavy duty stuff you line grills with, not the kitchen foil typically used for such a test. None the less, after 3 or 4 minutes the cleaner did start to chew at the foil (see pic). Started at the edges and eventually punched a couple holes. In my pic you can see bits of foil that were chewed off on the side/corner of the tank. Thinner kitchen-grade foil would have been more dramatic I'm sure. The heater is SLOW. This is kind of expected though. If you've ever watched a teardown of one of these (check out This Old Tony on Youtube), you can catch a glimpse of how these are heated; it's just a small heating pad Kapton taped to one side of the tank. So slow is par for the course. It doesn't bother me, I'll just preheat from the tap and use the tank heater to maintain. The temp reading isn't perfect, but does give you a general idea. See my two attached pics. The difference between the tank display and the FLIR reading is only a few degrees. (Note that FLIR sometimes has problems with reflective surfaces.) The average difference seemed to be 2 to 3 degrees between the two. Seems good enough. Note though that it does take some time to "get right". The immediate power-on reading was WILDLY inaccurate. After a few minutes it started to settle in. I have the 6L and there are three emitters. I can see where they are placed when it's turned on as it disturbs the water directly above them. Due to the location of the drain and the electronics inside they aren't placed in a line down the middle, but they do appear to be placed adequately. One looks to be centerline-left, the middle one appears to be offset from centerline just slightly, and the third is on the other side and slightly above the drain hole. It's not terribly loud, but it isn't quiet. It's definitely something you want to use in a garage or shop. Not really the kitchen table. I can see how it may be "nails on chalkboard" to some people, but it didn't bother me. You can talk over it fairly easily. OVERALL: I'm not dissatisfied. It's built well enough and it seems to work well enough in the brief test I did. Again, this is a cheap Chinese product. There's nothing wrong with that, but do have an understanding of what you're getting. This isn't going to compete with a $2000 pro-level cleaner. This is a Chinese-made disposable consumer-level product. I'm confident in saying that you are getting a decent value for what you're paying. I'm satisfied with mine at this point. And again... ALL THESE VARIOUS AMAZON LISTINGS FOR THIS ARE ALL THE SAME PRODUCT. The manufacturer name they attach to it is of no meaningful consequence. They all come from the same place, probably the same assembly line. Even the bad English is the identical! If they look the same, they are the same. Just find the one at the best price and buy that one. :-) ... show more

  • Next level purchase for me
Size: 3L
Purchased this for my gun cleaning bench. Just the next level of clean for me. Item works well and has nice features. Metal is thin and if you don’t take care of your tools this probably won’t last long in your shop. But for me it’s a great addition.

  • As advertise, works great
Size: 22L
When I ordered this I started to get concerned when the order stalled at "Carrier picked up the package" status, so I contacted the seller and they responded promptly. The product actually arrived on the first day of the advertised delivery range. I recommend this reseller as the package arrived promptly, was as advertised, worked without problem, and all the ultrasonic transducers work. I have not yet fully tested the heater. I expect the thermostat to be a couple of degrees off, because the temperature probe is not in the cleaning solution, but external to the tank. To echo others' reviews: This is the same single-mode (no choice of degas or semiwave modes) 22L ultrasonic cleaner as other brands, so if the product breaks down after warranty it is easily serviceable using common ultrasonic cleaner parts. If you want to add degas and semiwave modes, it is possible to replace the circuit boards later with the multi-mode ultrasonic cleaner boards. The [pvc? vinyl?] plastic membrane over the buttons will eventually crack and wear out. Again, these are "whitebox" style ultrasonic cleaners using standardized parts, so buy any standardized ultrasonic cleaner label, remove the original on this, and install the replacement. No problem there, so I am docking no stars. Bottom line: This is a Chinese-made ultrasonic cleaner, with a thin cover on the tank. The tank and transducer quality are great. It does the job. The valve is cheap, yes, but functional, but what did you expect? You're not spending thousands on a cleaning tank, but an inexpensive unit that can handle large circuit boards, car and tractor parts, tooling, gun parts, cartridges, or heck, bongs, all without issue. The capacity is much larger than you will get buying a big-name ultrasonic cleaner for the same price at sporting good stores like BPS/C, or even from big box tool stores like Hazard Fright. ----- Update: it is now 1.5 yr later with sporadic use, but when I do use it, I use it heavily in long stretches for things like my scba pump, printed circuit boards, rifle parts, and roller skate bearings, and it has held up extremely well. If you read Terry H's reviews, he is spot on, except in the larger unit I have, there are of course more transducers, and the heating element is larger. There are enough transducers to contribute to the heat that the heater units do heat more quickly. I do echo Terry's recommendation to start with tap water just to save a few minutes because with a full tank on the 22L version it can take a half hour to come up to temp. The unit works really well - I even occasionally clean the gratings from our BBQ, and cast iron cookware to prep for re-seasoning. ... show more

  • very loud
Size: 6L
I used in on some parts and it works fine, the basket has larger squares then I would want as small parts will slip through the squares. What stands out is how loud it is.
