This is a really nice cover — great quality, wonderful price. Leather is very soft and flexible. The finish on the leather is really nice (not plasticky feeling at all). Color is not really green, more of a brown and the bookmark is not all that great — but it easily fits behind the notebook and it not noticeable. This cover fits stalogy B5 notebook perfectly. Because the color is brown and not the green, I will be exchanging it, but still recommend it as it is a really nice cover.

I was looking for a cover for standard composition notebooks to use as a journal. I'd personally pay for a solid cover, and replace the notebooks as I fill them, rather than buy high-end notebooks that cost as much as this cover per notebook. I'll be honest in saying that at this price point I was expecting something terribly special - but wow! The outside sleeve is a single piece of leather, not super-thick, but in my opinion its perfect for the outer sleeve. Its light enough to not be cumbersome, but seems thick enough to wear well. The leather itself seems to be of good quality, and with decent care should lend itself to aging well. The stitching looks very well done, and durable. I've had leather folios and covers from other shops over the years that cost in the hundreds, and I can honestly say that at this price point, I'd pick this cover every time.

I just got this and I was impressed just by the packaging. It came inside a sturdy burlap bag with a leather tie and a leather logo patch. The bag itself is worth saving to reuse. Then I was more impressed by the cover. It is made of medium thick, but soft and supple leather. The stitching is uniform and neatly done. The color is great and I love the feel and smell of the leather. It fits my composition book nicely and I look forward to trying it on other similarly sized notebooks. Did I tell how much I like the feel and smell of it? It even came with an embossed leather fob. I'll be keeping an eye on other Hide & Drink products.

Since taking up fountain pens I've found myself using a lot of composition books. Cheap and easy to find fountain pen friendly paper is great, except it makes you look like an elementary school kid when you pull one out in a meeting in a professional environment. Standard composition notebooks fit in here perfectly. They are snug and don't wiggle around. When the notebook is closed all of the edges feel uniform and look good. This leather notebook cover looks great, stitching lines up nicely, and feel great. My cheap .50 cent composition notebook now looks like a well dressed notebook. I'm excited for my next meeting now. The leather looks like it will be very durable and hold up well over time too. The bookmark looks good but it's a bit thick for my taste. I've tucked it behind the notebook for now.

This case is aesthetically pleasing and well-constructed, but the smell of the leather dye is overpowering. I hope it dissipates soon. The stitched-in fabric page marker is a nice touch, but I’d much rather have a thin ribbon than the thick quiltish material that was used.

I got this yesterday and felt compelled to write a review immediately. This notebook cover is divine! It’s handmade with beautiful leather. The smell alone is worth the price. There are two inside pockets and a nice handmade page marker. It fits standard size b5 notebooks/journals. The journal I am using in there is exactly 7” x 10” and it fits like a glove. I have been on the hunt for a leather handmade journal cover for ages. I was reluctant to spend $100 on Etsy for one without being able to smell it or hold it first. I stumbled across this one on Amazon and thought that there was no way the price was accurate. Either that or the leather used was cheap and bonded. This one is neither of those. The leather is butter soft but has a stiff enough hand to keep your journal safe going in and out of bags all day. If you carry your journal all around this is a perfect cover for it. Especially for the soft cover journals that can get ratty after a few months of daily use. The only downside I can possible see is that there is not an elastic to keep it closed but honestly- you could probably just craft one up yourself after a quick trip to the craft store. The company seems to care about the people that make these covers and give a portion of their profit back to the community they are in. Each one comes with a card with the person’s name who created it. Buy this journal cover now- you will not regret it.

When I take notes, I prefer to use cheap composition books as the pages don’t easily rip out and they’re also not super heavy. The thing I don’t like about composition books: no pockets. That’s where this notebook cover comes into play. It’s great for stashing programs or agendas from events that I cover. I can just fold them up and pull them out whenever I need them. I also like that it doesn’t have a pen loop. I never use pen loops. I’ve found that the pens will either get lost or just constantly get hung up on things when I’m pulling my book in and out of my bags. They’re more trouble than they’re worth. I’ve found with other composition book covers, I’d usually just cut off the pen loops because they annoy me so much. The best place to keep a pen is hooked into the back flap of the composition book. It stays put and doesn’t get caught on things because the leather part of this cover also covers the clips of my pens. I can easily clip two pens into my composition book with this cover and I never have to worry about losing them or getting them hung up on anything. I LOVE the built-in bookmark!!! That thing has come in handy so much—especially when I’m at home writing my stories and I need to flip back and forth over several pages. I am on-the-go all of the time and my notebooks always come with me. This notebook cover is not only functional, it looks professional and I appreciate it so much. In several interviews, people have commented on my notebook cover and said they thought it looked nice. So yeah, I definitely recommend this and I’ve actually bought more for backups in case something happened to the one I’m using but I haven’t needed them yet. It’s sturdy and I’m sure I’ll get many more years out of this.
