  • More graphic adventure than hidden object game
Style: Hidden Objects
It says six games, but it's more like 6.25 because "Where Angel's Cry: Tears of the Fallen" has a bonus sequence after the main game that takes at about an hour to get through. The voice acting is cheesy and the stories don't always make sense but these aren't AAA games so I wasn't expecting much going in. It's just a fun way to mindlessly pass the time. Like other reviews mention, this is not a true hidden object game - it's more like a graphic adventure (find object, take object, use object) with some rotation puzzles and about half of the games on the cartridge have *some* hidden object sequences, but truly not that many and you'll keep utilizing the same few scenes for the duration of the game when required. Unfortunately by the time I had gotten to the final game, some of the rotation puzzles were starting to be reused from the other titles. I played this on a Switch Lite so this review is based on that experience. I also used a rubber tip stylus to play the game rather than the thumb stick and ABXY buttons (I highly recommend the stylus!) Objects are blended well into the background. Some games like this like to make them really obvious, but not this collection. This can be a problem on the Switch Lite as I couldn't find some things or they were slightly obscured by the UI at the bottom. I have a feeling it wouldn't be so bad on a Switch in TV mode. For the most part, things work as they should; not always intuitive but things work. However, there was a jigsaw puzzle in Tears of the Fallen that I just could not get to work, even by using the thumbstick and buttons, I ended up using a skip on that. If you have enough items in your inventory that two sliders are used, it does get a bit frustrating trying to swap between the two. It's not a bad game, it is in the genre of games I do enjoy and feel this was a good value for the price paid but I'm not sure there's a ton of replay value in it for me. ... show more

  • Disappointed in this HOG (hidden object game)
Style: Hidden Objects
I received this for Christmas and luckily I had accidentally downloaded The Man with the ivory cane on my switch because it was on sale. I’m very glad I did because that game was very frustrating and if any of the others in this bundle are the same I’ll be returning it for a refund! The storyline was good but the ending left a lot to be desired in regards to how it ends with whether or not they end up together. The control is very simple but I noticed my hand started cramping because I’m using the same right joycon for every move. This would be very troublesome for someone who is left handed! The puzzles were too repetitive and I ended up skipping about half of them because they used the same ones too many times and it got boring to do them over and over. The map is somewhat useful but don’t count on it to always let you know where you have action items because it doesn’t always work. There were plenty of times I had an action in one part of the map but it didn’t tell me so I ended up using a lot of hints just to see what I was supposed to do next. Another frustrating bit was that in many cases I would search an area and nothing was there but later in the game I got a “letter” stating I needed to check said area for an item; travel back and lo and behold that area is searchable now. Why not just let me find it to begin with and carry it in my inventory?!? Also, when you are asked to do a quest for a person in the game you complete requested task and then are asked to do at least one or two more to get them to give you the promised item. Example, one character asks you for bread then asks you for milk. Another asks you for a makeup item then asks you for something from their balcony. There are a few more just like this where you have to complete multiple tasks for the character to provide you the item that was promised if you completed just one task for them. The graphics are okay, could be better and because of this several times I couldn’t see objects that they wanted me to pick up. The game overall was okay I give it 2 stars due to the overwhelming issues I had with the various aspects of game play. The only games I play are HOG games and this is one I wouldn’t recommend. ... show more

  • Exactly What I Expected
Style: Hidden Objects
I know hidden object games on the Switch aren't as great as the best of them. I purchased this collection at half price during a sale, and I can honestly say that it's exactly what I had expected. The games aren't the highest quality, but they have puzzles and hidden object sequences, which is what I enjoy playing. The stories are a little convoluted, but they are engaging, nonetheless. Basically, if you like hidden object games and want to play in the mobile form of a Switch, these games should be exactly what you're looking for. ... show more

  • Not what I was expecring
Style: Hidden Objects
I thought this was going to be one of those typical hidden objects game where you are given a list of objects to find in a scene and allow it follows a silly little story line to accomplish some goal. This game isn't like that at all. It's more like an escape room adventure. In each scene there is something you have accomplish and something you have to find to accomplish that. As the player, you have to figure all of it out yourself. There is no list only cryptic hints. While that could be fun in and of itself, that is not the type of game I was wanting to play. There are 5 or 6 different versions in this collection. I have played 2 and both use this format. ... show more
