  • SMART LAP MACHINE: Our Slant Cabber flat lap machine is an American-made stone polisher that makes an excellent tool for grinding, shaping, smoothing and polishing rocks, stone, mineral, synthetic gem material, enamels and metals to make cabochons for necklaces, earrings, rings, and other jewelry pieces. The unique, angled design provides improved visibility and allows you to sit while you work instead of standing. Comes with a complete accessory kit to start your projects right out of the box.
  • HIGH PERFORMANCE: Each Slant Cabber is installed with a powerful 1/4 hp, heavy-duty, direct-drive permanent magnet motor with sealed ball bearings. The motor is variable speed and can be adjusted from 800 rpm all the way up to 3,400 rpm, allowing you to work at your own pace. The coolant reservoir is built into the machine and can hold up to a quart of water. This flat lap machine comes with a 1/2" arbor and accept backing plates that have a 1/2" arbor hole.
  • PORTABLE MACHINE: This lapidary flat lap is a lightweight, portable machine that works anywhere. It's constructed with a rigid housing made of durable cross-link polyethylene that is rustproof and easy to clean. The Slant Cabber has a small footprint and measures 13-1/2" X 15" X 11". Weighing at just 12 lbs, it is a portable rock polisher suitable for use on tabletops and workbenches. You can even take it on the road with you! Its quiet motor won't disturb others around you.

Let me start by saying- I have a friend who gave me the funds to purchase this amazing machine. I am a diehard Rockhound and have been polishing them by hand for months, which is nice from time to time. But WOW does this speed up the process. It was delivered to me in 2 days. When I unboxed it.. I was in absolute heaven. I read the instruction manual first since I couldn't find many videos on this machine but it's pretty simple. Only thing I struggled with was peeling off the protective plastic from the discs. I have been waiting for months to be able to make cabachons so I could make my wire wrapped rock jewelry quicker. I used it for about a month and something seemed a little off with the balance of it so I called the company and they answered right away. We talked over the phone and I explained what I was concerned about and didn't use it in fear of seizing up the motor. They sent me replacement parts free of charge and shipped them to me rush delivery and I received them in two days. Gosh those 2 days were long.. I put the new parts on and I am back in business! I absolutely love this machine and the customer service even more. I will continue to buy from this company. This thing is very well built. Make sure to clean it after each use and spin dry the discs before storing away. Oil the inside of the arbor every 2 months Make sure the set screw is on the flat part of the arbor and do not over tighten! Make sure the disc is laying flush on the arbor before running it. Always use machine at HIGHEST SPEED. If you are left handed, you are going to get splashed in the face quite a bit .. I'd recommend safety glasses and a mask for sure. I highly recommend purchasing the extended warranty. If you're going to spend a lot on a machine, protect it as well. Enjoy!! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I just rec'd this yesterday and immediately set it up and started grinding rocks! It was definitely a learning experience...and I expect to get better at it. I must have spent 4-5 hours on the first disc, #180. This is the one used to reshape your rock before you begin the polishing process. I think I'll be more selective in choosing rocks to polish from herein. :) I have a lot of huge raw Petoskeys that I will be polishing. The cabber was easy to set up and the instructions were clear and direct. I set it up in my laundry room, on my dryer. (Placed a rug over the dryer to protect it.) The drain tube I routed into the laundry sink...but I noticed the water had sediment in it (the rock particles) so I was worried about it going into the drain and ultimately our septic tank/field. So I placed an empty gallon milk jug into the laundry tub and routed the drain tube into that. When needed, I would dump the waster water outside, and kept a gallon of fresh water to add to the reservois. The cabber was at the perfect height, for standing. I tried to sit on a stool but found it was easier to just stand up. This was a big investment, for a hobby, but I'm glad I bought it. Everything fits nicely, a real smooth drive and it's a well made uncomplicated machine. I am gonna order some coarser diamond laps though to get a flat surface quicker/easier. The slab saw at our "community" rock shop where I live is kinda worn out and the slabs come out more corrugated than I would like. The 180 diamond lap that came with my slant cabber needs a big brother(s) I think so I am ordering a 60 an 80 and a 100 to "knock down the hills and valleys" in my slabs. Nice to have that option, order online and have the discs delivered to my door. :^) ... show more

The cabber is very compact, easy to set up and works great. The only thing I dislike is how it drains. I have mine set up on a small cart in my back patio and cover with a tarp when done. I bought a small rack for drying and storage of the wheels. For those with limited workspace, this cabber is a great option. ... show more

I have only polished about twenty pieces of Turquoise so far, with a soft rock you can grind the Turquoise right off of the nugget, I try to grind just enough to bring out the highlights. If you have lots of time on your hands you will enjoy this machine, it takes time to grind with the 180 grit wheel to your desired shape, stop and change to the next grit. I am a newbie at this but I think that one grinding grit to four polishing grits is out of sequence. I will have to buy more grinding wheels of various grits plus polishing grits. Before I remove a wheel after grinding/polishing I use a toothbrush to clean the wheel while the water is dripping. There is a lot of hours involved, if you think you are going to sit down and have a beautiful polished cab in fifteen minutes don’t buy but if you are retired with lots of time on your hands buy it. I hope I have helped someone make a decision. The water drip system is great, I use a five gallon bucket to catch the dirty water, I recommend at least two grinding wheels and some really fine polishing grits to bring the shine out. Exactly as described. Came very fast. Used it on the first day, & since with no issues. As mentioned in the trouble shooting area of the manual, an air bubble in the water line needs to be cleared, before using the grinder. Instead of totally draining the top reservoir, I'm leaving some water in it, so no air bubble will develop? That's my story ;) Definitely recommended. ... show more

Just got it and its a product that time will tell. I did find it easy but water didnt turn on, didnt have a straw or air compressor as manu. Suggests but i sucked in on the output valve thing (yes its sounding funny now) and it worked fine, did 4 stones worked just as good as cab king. Love it. Use dop sticks or you'll get ground fingertips ... show more
