  • Hi-Tek Quality is BACK!
I bought a pair of Altitude Hikers - the very first version, years ago and I've owned nearly every iteration since. I'm not trying to stay on the cutting edge or anything - I just wear out a pair about every 18 months... I'm not a hiker or trekker - I wear the boots to make deliveries and put a few thousand miles on a pair going through moderate terrain and nasty weather. The uppers always give up well before the tread is gone... We'll see how these (new) Michelin soles wear... To be Honest, I wasn't very happy with the later model's (V +) sizing and quality control, going so far as returning my next-to-last pair (VI?) for a refund. I saw the VII's and liked the price so I decided to take a chance. So very glad I did. They're perfectly sized, no fraying or stitch "tags", everything well glued without over"squish" between the sole and upper and fully sewn-in lining. I put them on and THEY FIT PERFECTLY. I'm really impressed with the turn-around in quality and value with the Altitude series hikers. In my experience, these boots, as a whole, are truly comfortable from day 1, wear well, grip everywhere and, did I mention, they're comfortable. I highly recommend them, especially for daily wear. ... show more

  • Best hiking boots ever!! Love them, will only wear these.
I absolutely love these boots, I can’t believe how awesome they are! The insoles are amazing. I bought these so that I could hike everyday at a local nature park, with rough natural trail, to lose weight, here in rainy Portland, Oregon where trails are wet most of the time. I have been hiking about 6 miles per day, nearly everyday, for past 4 months. That’s about 700 miles of rough, steep, wet trails that I’ve walked in these boots you see here. And they are as comfortable as the day I bought them! My feet simply don’t feel sore in them. I feel like I could hike 12 hours a day in these boots and my feet would still be fine. Through thick mud, deep puddles of clear water, slippery slopes, sharp rocks, these boots leave my feet dry and comfortable like I’m walking on air. Other hiking boots (that cost more money) make my feet feel sore after 1-2 hours. Not these boots, I love them. Initial laces broke, no biggie, buy replacements. I did have to put new sole inserts (Dr. Scholls?) into them after about 400 miles of hiking, no biggie. If you want good value, get these boots, hopefully in your right size. ... show more

  • So far so good!
Only worn them a few times. But here's my impressions so far.. Very happy with the looks and quality. Good insole, comfortable, seems well made. Not a big fan of the triangle lace loops. But can easily change that. So far I really like these! And I'm picky about footwear. For the price these are great! Wouldn't use them for hiking long miles. But daily wear or outdoor activities Absolutely! True test will be how they hold up over time... ... show more

  • Trouble with size
I am an avid hiker. The shoe fit is very important. I've worn a pair of these shoes for years. They were great but finally wore out. Went to replace them with the same size, same product and the fit does not work. Tried 11 and 1/2, 11 1/2 wide, 12, 12 wide. Even though my old shoes, that are worn out, still fit beautifully, I have not been able to replace them with ones that will fit the same. As these shoes do not seem to stretch out over time, I'm out of luck. I still stand behind Hi-Tek, the shoe size problem may be my feet and not the maker. ... show more

  • Nicest boots you can own. They are comfortable on day one!
Waterproof, comfortable, nicely priced boots! The soles are great for traction but squeaky on linoleum floors when wet and you walk around until they dry. That’s the only downside to these boots: = you win!

  • Good Boot. Tricky Sizing. Still Trying To Get 2 That Are The Same Size
Size: 10.5 Color: Dark Brown Tan
Feels like a sturdy hiking boot for backpacking. More than is needed for a day hike. I compared this to a Timberland White Ledge, and the sole is MUCH stiffer, boot collar is higher and generally this is the boot I would prefer to be wearing 4-8 days on the trail. My only problem is getting a pair that are the same size. First pair came with right boot noticeably larger (longer and wider) than left boot. I had that pair replaced with same boot size of 10.5. Nope. Both boots in pair 2 are like the smaller in pair 1. So. I will try a size 11, however the price has bounced up $16. Trying to figure out how to get Amazon to replace a replacement order... ... show more

Comfortable fit. Used on several lengthy hikes after a brief break-in period.
