This gets five stars from me. From the bottles: Step 1 (Cleanse) - Wet your skin with warm water. Apply a small amount of cleanser and massage onto your skin. Step 2 (Protect) - Apply a small amount of cream to wet skin. Use a brush or fingers to lather the cream evenly over the area to be shaved. Shave and rinse thoroughly with water. Step 3 (Restore) - After shaving, rinse your skin with water and pat dry. Apply a small amount of balm to gently massage into your skin. Step 1 felt like it prepared my skin well for the shave. Step 2 really requires a brush. It makes a nice, rich lather with a small amount and I don't think it would have a desirable result with using just fingers. And Step 3 left my skin feeling fresh and renewed. It's a winner.

Great set and love the smell. I bought it for my husband but have started using it myself as well. The smell is not masculine but not feminine either, so it’s great for both.

A bit overpriced for what it is. The preshave soap works as intended and has a faint fragance that smells nice and clean. The aftershave also smells nice and is subtle and hydrating. I did not notice it to reduce redness for me, at least not as much as Nivea soothing sensitive aftershave. The real star of the show is the shaving cream. Lathers beautifully on a bowl and with a synthetic brush. I have to use distilled water as my tap water is too hard. It does NOT lather nearly as well with cold water. Hot soft water works amazingly well. The smell of it is also understated but very clean and satisfying. Quite slick but not as slick as tonsorial or other tallow based soaps.

I'm enjoying this set, and my skin is happier. I've had way less irritation of my skin after shaving due to using this for a few weeks. I will say it takes some work to get the shaving cream to a lather, but other products are at the other end of the spectrum creating an absurd amount, so I prefer it this way. The scent is nice, and subtle enough it fades quickly and doesn't clash with my cologne.
