Sit away from your motor with full steering and throttle control, while improving craft balance, weight distribution, and comfort. Available in a variety of lengths, the HelmsMate is proudly assembled in the USA and will fit most trolling and outboard motors up to 15 horsepower. The HelmsMate Tiller Extension Handle is designed to fit most outboard motor tiller sizes. With a standard internal diameter of 1 1/2", the HelmsMate clamp can be stretched to fit larger or square-shaped handles up to 1 3/4" in diameter, or compressed to fit smaller diameter handles. To attach the HelmsMate to larger tillers, the HelmsMate clamp can be stretched by loosening the knobs and pushing the knob ears apart. The rubber sleeve with all HelmsMate Tiller Extension Handles can be used to fit the extension handle clamp to smaller tillers found on some outboard and trolling motors. To fine-tune the fit, sections can be cut lengthwise from the rubber sleeve. For very small tillers, additional rubber sleeves are available free of charge from Ironwood Pacific Outdoors. The HelmsMate Tiller Extension Handle attaches via a super tough nylon clamp designed to flex and compress for a secure fit on tillers of varying shapes and sizes. When installed correctly with the clamp knobs fully around the motor tiller, the HelmsMate provides dependable, slip-free control of your boat. To ensure proper fit, the tiller handle should be inserted into the HelmsMate clamp far enough that the tightening knobs are around the tiller. Longer tillers require the operator to move the handle in large arcs to steer properly. The HelmsMate U-Joint is designed with a universal joint to allow easy, push-pull steering when seated farther from the motor, eliminating the extra movement and effort of steering with a longer, fixed handle. The U-Joint model is adjustable from 37" to 51" in length, and includes a lockout sleeve to prevent universal joint movement if desired. The Straight and TE models utilize a snap button for stepped length adjustment. The snap button won't loosen or slip when twisting the handle to operate the throttle, which can happen with twist-lock style handles.
